My introduction to the world of early intervention, specialists, therapies, and "special needs". Monday, January 30, 2012. Potty, Day 8. It has now been a week since Sweets just up and decided to start using the potty. She has been almost 100% at home since then (was 0% previously! But on Friday, they reported that she did actually use the potty at daycare, twice! She told me she had to go several times, and successfully used the toilets in public restrooms and other people's houses all weekend! The Illn...

My Baby Sweets: Transition to Kindergarten
http://mybabysweets.blogspot.com/2014/06/transition-to-kindergarten.html
My introduction to the world of early intervention, specialists, therapies, and "special needs". Wednesday, June 4, 2014. We had our IEP meeting for the transition to kindergarten yesterday. I have to say that I think it went very well! I hear so many people complaining about their IEP teams and having a hard time with their meetings, but I feel like things generally go very smoothly for us. Kindergarten starts in just 6 weeks for us (year-round school) and we are excited! My blog about breastfeeding:.

My Baby Sweets: PT Eval - 33 months
http://mybabysweets.blogspot.com/2012/02/pt-eval-33-months.html
My introduction to the world of early intervention, specialists, therapies, and "special needs". Tuesday, February 14, 2012. PT Eval - 33 months. Sweets had a PT eval yesterday. It had been almost a year since the last one, and about 8 months since we quit PT. My main questions were where her current ability levels are and whether she still needs to wear the orthotics. The outcome is that she will continue with the orthotics, and she scored lower than I expected for her current ability levels. Overall, I...
My Baby Sweets: Stanford Binet
http://mybabysweets.blogspot.com/2012/02/stanford-binet.html
My introduction to the world of early intervention, specialists, therapies, and "special needs". Thursday, February 23, 2012. Sweets had her cognitive eval today. An IQ test. In the past, she's had IQ type testing done as subtests for other tests, but they were just quick tests. More recently, she was tested at 33 months with the DAYC - Developmental Assessment of Young Children. Sweets scored an 84 on the cognitive subtest of this assessment. The subtests on this assessment each have a verbal and a nonv...
My Baby Sweets: Apraxia: Yes, No, Maybe So...
http://mybabysweets.blogspot.com/2012/02/apraxia-yes-no-maybe-so.html
My introduction to the world of early intervention, specialists, therapies, and "special needs". Wednesday, February 15, 2012. Apraxia: Yes, No, Maybe So. Last month Sweets had a speech eval at NCEENT which diagnosed her with apraxia. Today we had our second opinion on the apraxia diagnosis at Duke. The examiner at NCEENT had told me that just because Sweets can mimic, it doesn't mean it's not apraxia. She said that while adults with apraxia can't mimic, kids often can. One reason she thinks it i...The D...

My Baby Sweets: Duke speech eval
http://mybabysweets.blogspot.com/2011/05/duke-speech-eval.html
My introduction to the world of early intervention, specialists, therapies, and "special needs". Thursday, May 26, 2011. We had a speech eval at Duke this week, for another opinion regarding apraxia. Or just for another opinion in general on what could be going on with Sweets. We were there for about 2.5 hours and while Sweets was shy at first (understandably), I think that she got comfortable and performed well for the eval. Receptive Language: Raw Score 45 Age Equivalent 16 months Ability Score 78.

waiting on wings | eat, pray, love
Eat, pray, love. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. May 11, 2013. What do I do, what do I do. There is no way to explain to you how I feel. I cannot use words and I cannot use my tears because these are mere representations that cannot convey the magnitude of pain that is searing through my heart. It is an unspeakable and destroying pain that debilitates my every purpose and aim. And as for me, I have nothing to do but sit. And weep. Oh, Lord. Lord. Where is the strength I had? I am doub...

Waiting On You
Are you willing spend money on a lotto ticket for a chance at being rich? Then why not accept a chance at eternal life. For your soul at no cost. A Admit that God is God, and you are not. Think of the complexity of your body, and of your life. It is far too complex to have happened by chance. You do not have the power to create it by yourself. There is a Creator who owns you whether you accept Him or not. D Ask to be cleansed, forgiven and submit your life to Christ. If you do these steps in ernest.
