Waking Up In Class

Waking Up In Class. Friday, August 19, 2011. Ah yes, summer. The sun continues to warm the earth, and yet, as the evening begins to bring a bit of cool night air, the smell of new backpacks fills the air. Teachers, parents and children look at the start of school with trepidation. What will the new classroom look like? Will the individual personalities and enchanting differences of the students combine to create a successful classroom unit? Friday, June 3, 2011. 1,000 Years of Christianity. No, but actua...

Waking Up In Class: January 2011

http://www.wakingupinclass.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Waking Up In Class. Wednesday, January 26, 2011. Third Grade Reaches the Third Floor. One of the nice things about being "guest teacher" at the third grade is that the classroom is on the third floor of the building - because its an old building, that's three double-staircase flights to walk up. I always wear my comfortable shoes because I know I'll be on my feet and walking a lot. Ie, First we read the story to ourselves and THEN we read it out loud together.). AND, they don't want to hear you give them...

Waking Up In Class: February 2011

Waking Up In Class. Monday, February 14, 2011. Spanish on the Fly. I was all sweated up 30 minutes into the day - I might as well have been teaching gym class. After having been in the middle school earlier last week, I was sorry to be in this new role without my plastic gloves! After Spanish I went back to walking the halls. "Are you the new vice principal? I like to walk and I like my exercise, but by the end of the day I was pretty exhausted! Hope I don't get bit by any snakes. Fifth Grade Flu Symptoms.

Waking Up In Class: Rain, Rain, Go Away???

Waking Up In Class. Thursday, April 28, 2011. Rain, Rain, Go Away? Advisory and first two periods were covered. But, at 12:15 pm we were scheduled to take a WALKING field trip to the YMCA in downtown. Why didn't anyone tell me? This was one of the 101 things that got forgotten! Tomorrow I head to 1st grade. I'm packing my sneakers and a change of clothes in the trunk of my car just in case. You never know what the day will bring. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Massachusetts, United States.

Waking Up In Class. Friday, May 20, 2011. The need for comfortable shoes. It should go without saying.organizing 22 second graders on a Friday in a week that has had a lot of rain requires a great deal of patience and energy. Instructor as he hollers out instructions. They answer in unison, bowing their heads, showing respect for his leadership. Rats! Is that what it takes? I head back down to the classroom and get prepared for their next lesson. There are cheers all around (even from me!

http://www.wakingupinclass.blogspot.com/2011/05/second-day-in-second-grade.html

Waking Up In Class. Monday, May 23, 2011. Second day in second grade. Teacher still out sick, got the call last night to return to class. No wonder she's out - I've never seen so many children who like to pick their nose.Spent quite a bit of time asking them to please get a tissue and wash their hands before they return to group. Also took sanitizing whips and washed down desks while they were at Discovery. Wiped down faucets and counters and doorknobs and pencils. I don't understand" .phew! Awesome" "Gr...

For knitters or for anyone who's eyeballs won't dry out reading about the trials and tribs of living in a fiber art world. Monday, November 12, 2012. Knitting vs. Knitter. Knitting: the act of knitting. The answer to "What have you been doing? Why does the end curl up? Why, why, why? This is why I don't teach knitting. I don't have the tolerance to deal with a mind that is not curious enough to want to know how it works and why. If I had been on a deadline for this project I would have been a bit more ag...

Can't say I'm going to miss it and hope the door hit it in the butt on the way out. We weren't tortured with the horrible storms of last summer but the humidity and heat? At least you can breath in and out without feeling you need to take a shower and a nap. I wove the loops this way and that to create a fabric tube. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I like cha...

For knitters or for anyone who's eyeballs won't dry out reading about the trials and tribs of living in a fiber art world. Thursday, January 09, 2014. Oh wait, you don't know about the cowls because I didn't take the time to ramble on and on about them when they were flying off the needles. Well, my bad. Here's the other mass produced project I've filled my downtime with. I snagged some cotton yarn, (admittedly, not my favorite fiber to work with) and producing what I will call "Spring 1 pour moi". For knitters or for anyone who's eyeballs won't dry out reading about the trials and tribs of living in a fiber art world. Tuesday, April 17, 2012. March, April and May. Wacky weather months in New England historically. REALLY odd this year. Do I put away the snow blower just because I needed to mow the lawn in April? I hesitate because I am not fooled by the 90 degree weather we had on 4/16. Having lived here all my life I'm not that easy to trick. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Good For A Boy. I like chan...

waking up in Byron | . . . just sharing, this journey of awakening, where there is no destination

Waking up in Byron. Just sharing, this journey of awakening, where there is no destination. August 7, 2015. There’s nothing unusual about today,. Yes I have a head cold. And the farmer’s market. Like any other Friday. There’s nothing unusual in this day,. And texts of care from friends. Like every other day. So why am I suddenly on my knees,. Howling like a child. Begging to be broken? Why are the tears followed by rage,. Crying to be taken? Yet there is no need. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window).

Waking up in 中国

Waking up in 中国. Martes, 14 de julio de 2009. As in any other place where freedom of expression is, let's say, a little lacking, rumours are a very important source of information in China. With all national media under constant scrutiny, and an infinite number of hurdles set in place to keep people from accessing reliable media, a lot of important news still relies simply on people hearing something and relaying it forward to someone else. That is, until now. This time around, however, the government ha...
