Week 4 - Rajasthan (Northern India). 5-Jan, Saturday - Car from Jodhpur to Bikaner. Hired a car to take us the 6 hours to Bikaner. The scenery got a lot more deserty as we got farther north. On the way we stopped at Karni Mata, a temple dedicated (and swarming with) rats. It was pretty gross, made worse by the fact that we weren't allowed to wear shoes inside. Week 2 - Kerala (Southern India). 22-Dec, Saturday - Mumbai, mostly just ran errands to get presents for the Sharanam girls. Apparently, license plates are just painted on here and if yours gets scraped off (probably happens a lot considering the traffic) you just stop at one of these roadside stalls and 2 minutes later, brand new shiny license plate . . . your choice of font. Even Indian dogs like to hang their head out the "window". Very dangerous . . . 20-Dec, Thursday - More Touring Around Munnar.

Painted on back of some cars, "A C NO HAND SIGNAL", which means "I have air conditioning and will not be rolling down my window to signal for a turn with my hand", which means . no turn signal. Week 3 - Bombay (Mumbai). 29-Dec, Saturday - Bollywood Movie Outing with Girls. So, 32 kids, 9 adults all got on a bus and went to the movies. Surprisingly, noone went missing or got lost. The girls loved it and got dressed up for the occassion. Suji's skirt was really great . a decadent bright red, faux leather number with rhinestones. 28-Dec, Friday - Shopping in Bombay. Just a shot of a passing, crowded express train from the also crowded local train. Again, very grateful for the Ladies Only car.
