Mercy – Watching the Wake
https://watchingthewake.wordpress.com/2016/07/01/mercy
Reflections that bubble up. Well today is my first day of official (temporary) unemployment. I’ve had so many ideas and plans for what I want to accomplish with this month, but the very first day started of with aggravation and frustration that sent me over the edge into tears. But here’s the rub. In order to do that, I have to admit to myself that I need mercy; that I’m in distress or at least not at 100% of mental, physical, or emotional health. Dang! Where do you need to show yourself some mercy?

Reflections that bubble up. Boundaries 1: Reclaiming Home. There is a certain amount of studying I need to be doing this summer to prepare for the school year. I have been really resistant to sitting down with the computer and exploring websites and looking over files… Now, I think I know why. We have recently begun repairs/replacement of the deteriorating siding and windows of our home. The part that has been completed is lovely! Starbucks here I come…and the public library. About – Watching the Wake
https://watchingthewake.wordpress.com/about
Reflections that bubble up. I’m a teacher/preacher or preacher/teacher. Actually I’m a pastor who both teaches and hopefully still occasionally preaches. Pastor as in pastoral. I care for people – in many ways. I attend to the spiritual, emotional, and intellectual well being of those in my care whether family, friends, parishioners, students, or educators. If you are sick with a bug, you may want to find another caretaker. I like to revel in new spiritual aha moments (hence the blog). I like to lear...

Imago Dei – Part the First – Watching the Wake
https://watchingthewake.wordpress.com/2016/09/25/imago-dei-part-the-first
Reflections that bubble up. Imago Dei – Part the First. I’m very slowly reading. We Make the Road by Walking. Today’s musings come from Chapter 2, page 8. McLaren writes about being created in the image of God. One sentence, “An image is a small imitation or echo, like a reflection in a mirror,” sparked so many thoughts and ideas, I decided to share them here. The words above are only my thoughts in this very moment. They do not claim to be theological wisdom; simply where I am today. Leave me a comment.

Skewed View: The Dog Whistler
http://mujermaravilla.blogspot.com/2008/03/dog-whistler.html
Living in a fantasy world and damn happy about it. Sunday, March 09, 2008. Katie was lying on the couch. The dog was gnawing on her various extremities. Her father and I were busy with our own pursuits, which is another way of saying we were doing our best to shut out the inanity of the Disney Channel. Emily told me how to be the alfalfa.". Katie blinked at us expectantly. I looked at the dog again. Jackson said "Alfalfa? Katie said, helpfully. I was still looking at the dog. We are laughing over here!

Living in a fantasy world and damn happy about it. Friday, February 21, 2014. And now I'm hungry. This week's prompt: Spectacular. Other than the kid's pitching prowess in a couple of softball games, I haven't had a lot of contact with the spectacular this week. It hasn't been bad, though. Sometimes good enough is just that. I was introduced by name and as the "probation chief". Both ladies expressed their pleasure at making my acquaintance and then one asked "Where are your crutches? The Judge told us a...

Living in a fantasy world and damn happy about it. Monday, October 20, 2014. I Deleted The Department's Financial Records on Friday. This week’s events include the following snippet of conversation:. The Judge: “Thanks for the candy.”. Me: “Thanks for not sending me to jail.”. You know those bits of paper that the sheriff brings you now and then? The one’s with the funny little Latin name? The only thing that saved me for stern judicial rebuke was that the defense attorney also forgot about the hearing&#...

Living in a fantasy world and damn happy about it. Tuesday, October 22, 2013. It's like Matlock, Sans Seersucker. It will be the only interesting part of the trial.". She was right; it was interesting. One side represented an employer and their insurance company and the other represented the wheelchair-bound widow of a faithful employee. Some time after that, while alone on the job site, he fell into a pit of water and drowned. I was vaguely horrified. This poor man, obviously well-liked by his co-wo...

Living in a fantasy world and damn happy about it. Wednesday, January 29, 2014. I Think I'll Call the Playlist "Penance". You want to know something that's unfortunate? My affinity for the movies of Quentin Tarrantino and Robert Rodriquez. You want to know what is especially bad about that? The fact that I love the soundtracks of those same movies and have included them in the content of my iPod's music library. Imagine my chagrin as I sat at my desk, midway through a morning of reading, planning and wri...

Living in a fantasy world and damn happy about it. Wednesday, July 29, 2015. I am the president of the Lion's Club. Yeah Let me give you just a minute to let that sink in. It's not like I wanted to be president of or even wanted to join the club. But the third time Jo, the county treasurer, hit me up about it, she caught me in a weak moment and I said yes. Living in a fantasy world and damn happy about it. Thursday, May 29, 2014. Earlier today I was asked by a four-time loser in the marriage game if my husband had changed after we got married. Had his behavior altered significantly from his dating persona to his spousal persona? After a brief consideration, I said no. I thought about that question for the rest of rest of the day. I realized I was wrong. When we were dating, he gave me roses. Now he gives me rose bushes. Make of that what you will. As God i...

Living in a fantasy world and damn happy about it. Wednesday, August 20, 2014. Oh, man, I love this! All the texture, and the decay! I love how there is just a tiny bit of yellow paint still clinging to the boards. They yard is wildly overgrown but once had some beautiful native landscaping. The chairs on the front porch are handmade, it appears. Someone really loved this house, once upon a time. I want to live in my house but have this one n a lane out back so I can look at it. Watching the Wake – reflections that bubble up
Reflections that bubble up. A couple of days ago, I shared this picture on facebook with the caption:. I went to church today without boiling over with anger or crying. That is good news. It is a sign of God’s healing work in my life. But, it is not a signal that I am fully healed. Just a week ago, I pretty much lost a whole day of functioning dwelling on my hurt and anger. A fansite for the TV series The Walking Dead. December 15, 2010. It’s no secret that I thought this season kind of sucked.
