Pauls Other War Games: November 2014
http://paulywaulysotherwargames.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Pauls Other War Games. A view of my wargaming interests other than 18th Century imaginary wars. Sunday, 30 November 2014. Still got the air combat bug. I've been playing Axis and Allies Angels 20 and Bandits High at any opportunity for weeks now. I bought some singles, a brace of Chinese. And a German Me109 G. And another Angels 20 starter set. Having two sets gives me a 60x40 inch playing area and 12 planes. It is hard to watch your six with all the chaos going on. The action from above. The rules state...

Pauls Other War Games: March 2015
http://paulywaulysotherwargames.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Pauls Other War Games. A view of my wargaming interests other than 18th Century imaginary wars. Tuesday, 24 March 2015. I've been enjoying this game. I've used Gallic, Spanish, Marian Romans and Pontic forces in recent days. The speed of play takes a little getting used to though. I used to play 24 element armies and most of my armies have at least 24 elements. Some have many more from being expanded for DBM. I never really enjoyed DBM though. And was quite inspired to copy them. Monday, 16 March 2015.

Pauls Other War Games. A view of my wargaming interests other than 18th Century imaginary wars. Thursday, 25 September 2014. Lion Rampant roars into life! I received my copy of Dan Merseys Lion Rampant medieval rules the other day. Today I tried them out with a pair of 20 point forces. The pig headed Baron Sanglier is the leader of one retinue. While the well known braggart Sir Roget Megently leads the opposing force. I played scenario E: Hold on Tight. All of the toys are Games Workshop. Campaigns of Ge...

http://paulywaulysotherwargames.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Pauls Other War Games. A view of my wargaming interests other than 18th Century imaginary wars. Saturday, 25 April 2015. A month or so ago my wife and I went shopping at the Metrocentre in Gateshead. I steered us into WH Smith which has a modest range of models from which I impulse bought a Revell 1/72nd Spitfire Vb. I bought a starter kit as I haven't got the proper paints. Here's the Spitfire, I built the clipped wing version. And todays little project. Another view of the Spit. Bf 109 and a MiG 3.

Pauls Other War Games: Royal Armies of the Hyborean Age
http://paulywaulysotherwargames.blogspot.com/2015/07/royal-armies-of-hyborean-age.html
Pauls Other War Games. A view of my wargaming interests other than 18th Century imaginary wars. Sunday, 26 July 2015. Royal Armies of the Hyborean Age. After playing dozens of scenarios with Commands and Colors Ancients, I decided to do something different. I decided to give Royal Armies of the Hyborean Age another go. I bought these as a download a couple of years ago. Thoth Amon with a disparate and probably desperate army needs to get to a ruined temple to perform some wickedness. 26 July 2015 at 15:42.

Pauls Other War Games: DBA squared.
http://paulywaulysotherwargames.blogspot.com/2015/07/dba-squared.html
Pauls Other War Games. A view of my wargaming interests other than 18th Century imaginary wars. Saturday, 11 July 2015. I rebased some of my 15mm ancients as I threatened in my previous post to make a couple of DBA armies and quickly made a square gridded board. Here is a play test. After the Scythed Chariot crashes through the Roman line it finds itself doomed at the hands of the velites on the hill and the triarii. The lines clash in the centre of the field. And thureophoroi clash with hastati. Song of...

Pauls Other War Games. A view of my wargaming interests other than 18th Century imaginary wars. Sunday, 29 June 2014. A quick game of Flames of War. I had a quick game of Flames of War tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it, below are a few photos of the action. As the Germans advance they come under attack by the RAF. A British tank platoon charges over the bridge. The StuG platoon is overwhelmed by the firepower from the riverbank. Typhoon returning to base. The Typhoons attack the Tigers again. But the Ger...

Pauls Other War Games. A view of my wargaming interests other than 18th Century imaginary wars. Thursday, 30 July 2015. Today in the Hyborian Age Koth has invaded Ophir and battle is joined. Any resemblance to historical miniatures is purely coincidental. King Strabonus of Koth. King Amilius of Ophir. The Kothian army has many heavy cavalry. And a shadowy figure known as the Veiled One. Slingers stalk the ruins. They also have a small unit of Free Company mercenaries with a formidable fighter named Conan.

Pauls Other War Games: May 2015
http://paulywaulysotherwargames.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Pauls Other War Games. A view of my wargaming interests other than 18th Century imaginary wars. Wednesday, 20 May 2015. I had a couple of games with my Cold War/ Modern micro tanks today. I used my own rules. A US Infantry platoon. M1A1s hidden on the treeline. Three companies of tanks and three companies of infantry. This tank company advances boldly. The US artillery is off table. But their Soviet counterparts are on table. The M1s open fire. Another platoon joins in. The Russian tanks shoot back.

Pauls Other War Games: Rule sets for ancient war games.
http://paulywaulysotherwargames.blogspot.com/2015/07/rule-sets-for-ancient-war-games.html
Pauls Other War Games. A view of my wargaming interests other than 18th Century imaginary wars. Thursday, 9 July 2015. Rule sets for ancient war games. Recently I have been trying out various rules for ancient period war games. I tried out the old standby WRG Ancients 5th edition with my 15mm collection but found it dull so I had a couple of games of Hail Caesar and found it to be much more exciting. So I have decided to make it my game of choice when using my venerable 15mm soldiers. For the Waterloo 20...
