My Son John: February 2013
http://oneshoeoffoneshoeon.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 24, 2013. We took you and your sister to see the ballet version of Snow White. Today and you were most disappointed! The queen and the off-stage voice of the mirror both spoke and the dwarves moved in a jump/skip and not in fluid dance movements. Halfway through the production, you announced (loudly), "Hey, you said this was a ballet. This is not a ballet, this is a play. I love you, smart boy! Monday, February 18, 2013. On our way through the Fine Arts Building, though, we saw something...

My Son John: More Lego
http://oneshoeoffoneshoeon.blogspot.com/2013/07/more-lego.html
Thursday, July 11, 2013. You made your first really purposeful creation today. It's Joker's Airplane and you would hold up specific pieces and tell me exactly how many more you needed of that piece for your airplane. I was very impressed. You are such a smart little boy! My Son John: January 2013
http://oneshoeoffoneshoeon.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 23, 2013. Tonight, you were, once again, complaining of being thirsty and insisting you needed a water bottle in bed. You also have been having many, many potty accidents in the last few months. You also still refuse to eat anything that is not a carb. (With the exception of dairy. you do drink milk and eat cheese and yogurt.). On the one hand, these are signs of a three year old striking his independence. On the other hand, they are also signs of diabetes. The 250 or the 170? Well, I ...

My Son John: September 2013
http://oneshoeoffoneshoeon.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 5, 2013. When you grow up, you want to be a builder. This was after a worried conversation about how you would learn to build things and whether there would be a team working with you and how you would go about finding such a team. When you are a grown-up and a builder, we are to call you "John the Builder" or just "Builder.". This is because you will be wearing builder clothes and if we do not call you by the name "Builder" then people will just think you are dressed up for no reason.

My Son John: December 2013
http://oneshoeoffoneshoeon.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 22, 2013. You asked me the other day if people "way long ago in the old days" had computers. I told you they did not. You thought about this for a moment and then told me, "So they had to just look at the pictures on their cameras.". It took me a moment to realize you were visualizing a past without the computers, but with the other digital technology. I love the way your mind thinks! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). My Son John: April 2012
http://oneshoeoffoneshoeon.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 29, 2012. The Taming of John Patrick Nolen. So, two weeks ago, I drew a line in the sand. I focused on you all weekend and during the week I canceled all of my 4-7:30 commitments and picked you up early from daycare so I could really focus on you. I kept you by my side and I gave you many, many, many opportunities to obey. I directed you to help me clean up the garage. I directed you to clean the playroom. I directed you to clean up your room. During this same time, I took you out in public...

My Son John: Lego
http://oneshoeoffoneshoeon.blogspot.com/2013/06/lego.html
Monday, June 17, 2013. You have loved Lego for some time now, but you usually get me to assemble the set and then you carefully play with it. Later, though, I expect to be asked when you first started following Lego directions yourself. The answer, as it turns out, is just after you turned four. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
