qmodels: February 2011
http://qmodels.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 21, 2011. This is a Czech Model short-run kit I got on sale from Squadron. It was my first short-run kit and from what I can tell, Czech Model was kind to me. The fit of the parts was good, aside from the engine nacelle. Instead of VF-66 or VF-1E. I particularly liked the double yellow stripe going through the national insignia and the asymmetrical. All in all, a good kit and with all the out-of-the-box kits I've been building, a good exercise in honing my modelling skills. Pros to t...

qmodels: July 2010
http://qmodels.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, July 31, 2010. Fw 190A-8/R8 "Black 8". The markings were Unteroffizer Will Maximowitz's mount from 11/IV/JG 3, June 1944 once again provided by Aeromaster. I liked the nose markings and think that it highlights the engine detail well. I think this is the best model I have done so far. I think that I want to try some other Eduard Fw190s, specifically the D version; this is quickly becoming one of my favorite kits. Posted by Quinntin Reynolds. Ju 188E-1 "KG 66". qmodels: November 2009
http://qmodels.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 12, 2009. F-16C Block 30 - 466 FS. This is a Tamiya 1/48 F-16C Block 32 that was converted to a Block 30 by changing the exhaust nozzle. There is an inacurracy in this model because it does not have the "wide mouth" jet intake but I'm OK with it. The decals were a discontinued line from Two Bobs that I got from an online retailer in Canada. This model was made as a gift to a pilot who recently retired from the 466th FS stationed at Hill AFB. Monday, October 18, 2010. Ki-84 Hayate (Frank) "57 Special Attack Unit". I didn't want to weather this aircraft very much for a couple of reasons. First, this was a suicide attack aircraft which means the pilots probably didn't fly the aircraft a whole lot before they would have headed out for their ultimate mission. Secondly, the scheme is very beautiful and I didn't want to distract from it like a Bob Ross painting that has a huge tree right through the middle. Posted by Quinntin Reynolds.

qmodels: F6F-3 Hellcat "VF-6"
http://qmodels.blogspot.com/2011/02/f6f-3-hellcat-vf-6.html
Monday, February 21, 2011. When Eduard released the Hellcat in 1/48 scale, I had to get one. The Hellcat is one of my favorite WWII fighters and I had been waiting for for a decent kit for a while. I chose to get the -3 version because I like the 3-tone scheme much more than the 1-tone dark sea blue. Fragmentation bomb, but only one as the -3 carried ordnance under the starboard wing only. I figured this load out to be possible as the Hellcat often performed strafing duties on its missions.

qmodels: Sea Harrier
http://qmodels.blogspot.com/2010/10/sea-harrier.html
Monday, October 18, 2010. Here are some pics of my son's birthday present we built together. The kit is an older Tamiya 1/48 Sea Harrier FR.1. He picked the markings (because its a "pirate flag") and all the colors. Not too bad for a toddler. Posted by Quinntin Reynolds. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Welcome to qmodels blog! qmodels: B339 Buffalo "2-VLG-V"
http://qmodels.blogspot.com/2010/10/b339-buffalo-2-vlg-v.html
Monday, October 18, 2010. The Tamiya Buffalo kit is a little dated, doesn't have enough detail in the landing gear bays, and the instrument panel looks a bit hokey, but overall I really like the kit. Straight from the box, this kit looks good to me and was fun to build. I'm not looking for it to win any awards anyway. Posted by Quinntin Reynolds. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). qmodels: April 2009
http://qmodels.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 21, 2009. Military Channel's "Top 10 Fighters of All Time". The Military Channel chose this aircraft because of its new technology. However, the Raptor has not, as of yet, been battle tested. I would not have put it in the top 10 because of this. It may be a fast, maneuverable, and stealthy fighter and perhaps. Be a great fighter, but many potentially great fighters in history have failed when put to the test. Another short-lived fighter which got its inclusion because of its first jet fig...

qmodels: October 2008
http://qmodels.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 28, 2008. I really enjoyed building this Hasegawa model. The fit was generally good, and it was a very interesting subject - an unusual RF-4B with the thick tires, bulged wings, and large engine afterburner canisters of the F-4J/S. I like to call it an RF-4J. Posted by Quinntin Reynolds. Sunday, October 26, 2008. Posted by Quinntin Reynolds. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Welcome to qmodels blog! View my complete profile.
