The Ministry of Cookies: Housekeeping
http://ministryofcookies.blogspot.com/2012/07/housekeeping.html
The Ministry of Cookies. Monday, July 30, 2012. Headed out of town soon, I've got housekeeping on the mind. A stack of bills to pay, a leaking faucet, and more dust in the new place than the old one (at least more dust that I'm noticing). Is it the carpet? When I 'fessed up to her that I had been without the recipe- for years, at this point- she asked, "How are you managing to keep house without them? How, indeed, my husband also asked- since I had been without the recipe for as long as I had known him.

Nothing. Nevermind.: 2X the FUN. 2X the LOVE.
http://turkenboyden.blogspot.com/2015/02/2x-fun-2x-love.html
Tuesday, February 24, 2015. 2X the FUN. 2X the LOVE. So far, having 2 kids is NO FUN. It has been made more NO FUN by the fact that #1 child has been sick and throwing up every other night, and that he has not been to the babysitter in a few days. And really, he's just at an age where he's a big ol' dick. Pardon the expression. I have no idea how the juggling of work and the demands of these 2 children is going to happen once Jeannie and I go back to work. NO IDEA. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

A Home on Poplar Ridge: January 2015
http://poplaridge.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
A Home on Poplar Ridge. Life on the hill. Thursday, January 29, 2015. Chickens are Not Smart. I mentioned before that the hens love their new, spacious, warm and bright space so much that they don't like to go outside any more. This wouldn't be a problem except that we had been keeping their food and water outside because they tend to poop where they eat. Since they weren't going outside, they stopped eating and drinking enough and their egg production went down drastically. Wednesday, January 28, 2015.

A Home on Poplar Ridge: July 2015
http://poplaridge.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
A Home on Poplar Ridge. Life on the hill. Thursday, July 30, 2015. As ludicrous as it sounds, that is exactly what I did this morning. Even more horrific (BLUSH), I paid about $36 for those weed seeds! So much for explaining my crazy behavior this morning. Consequently, I've been able to get some work done in the garden. On Monday, the girls and I went to Idlewild. This afternoon we headed South to take in "Beauty and the Beast" the musical. It was great fun, especially afterwards as we strolled up t...

A Home on Poplar Ridge. Life on the hill. Sunday, August 2, 2015. The buddleia is covered with butterflies lately. The sweet peas have dozens of. These big-eyed little guys. This unknown variety of squash is escaping from the compost! Recent garden harvest: kohlrabi, cauliflower, cucumber. This little fellow startled me as I was weeding behind the pool today. Looks as if summer is in full swing. August 4, 2015 at 7:24 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Our Life in Idaho.

The Ministry of Cookies: August
http://ministryofcookies.blogspot.com/2014/08/august.html
The Ministry of Cookies. Tuesday, August 26, 2014. It still is, isn't it? And that would explain why I'm both late coming back to the blog and the fridge is filled up with all kinds of late-summer goodness. The weather took a turn yesterday, and there's a chill in the air suddenly. It feels like back-to-school weather, and I should be sitting in meetings all week. But I'm not. I'm on sabbatical, messing up my kitchen and playing with green chile and peaches and corn and all sorts of goodness. I read, I t...

JEMS: Words for a New Year
http://jill-jms.blogspot.com/2013/01/words-for-new-year.html
Wednesday, January 2, 2013. Words for a New Year. Tonight, finds me at home, still. High heels click on the bathroom floor above me; the shower switching on and off as my children get ready to meet the New Year. I will still have a kiss at midnight, but I'll probably be balancing a book along with my champagne flute. Here's some of the books I read since the clock struck 2012. Just like the parts of my life, some will make you laugh, and some will make you cry. Cheers. The Sandcastle Girls,. I couldn't h...

JEMS: September 2011
http://jill-jms.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 16, 2011. Yesterday I ran into an old friend in the copy room. We'd known each other long before we started teaching at the same university, chatting with each other at open houses and baseball games. I put my arm around his shoulder, feeling his age through the crisply-pressed blue dress shirt. He kissed my cheek, leaving a soft, dry impression against my skin. I'm so sorry," I whispered into his ear. "How are you doing? Indeed, my dear child. Indeed. Sunday, September 4, 2011. It's on...

goldengreenandbluedays: hope.
http://goldengreenandblue.blogspot.com/2012/11/hope.html
Days when your eyes are wide open- the sunlight is golden, the air is clear, the sky is blue, and all around you the world is alive and growing. Monday, November 05, 2012. When driving through Kampala from Entebbe you come into the city on the Entebbe Rd, go through downtown and then head out on the Kampala/Jinja Road. Once you pass Lugogo, you are on your way home. Granted, this last leg (15 miles-ish? A couple of weeks earlier in Jinja, I saw perhaps the most complete and brilliant rainbow. I remember ...
