Pippa, an occupational therapist by training, has has participated in various town initiatives and has chaired successful Westport-based energy efficiency programs, including the Westport Home Energy Challenge and Solarize CT. As a member of the Green Task Force she aims to engage Westport and Westporters in sustainable measures. He spoke at the Westport Arts Center on opportunities to solve climate change (the last five years spent at Carbon War Room.

Of the Green Task Force is to advise the First Selectman and town commissions and departments on determining and setting environmental policy and decisions for the purpose of transforming Westport into a sustainable green community. The Green Task Force will educate, encourage and assist Westport residents, businesses, and the town to adopt sustainable practices consistent with this purpose. Established in 2006, the Green Task Force developed a Clean Energy Action Plan for the town which included recommendations to the First Selectman on measures Westport could take to reduce its usage of fossil fuels and to achieve 20% renewables (including on-site generation) in town facilities by 2010.
