The risks are of developing serious medical conditions like cardiovascular disease (heart trouble, diabetes, high blood pressure, osteorthritis, ligament and joint problems, respiratory problems, and some forms of cancer. These are serious problems that can not only shorten your dog's life but make its life miserable, plus give you massive vet's bills.

How to get your dog to lose weight. If your dog is overweight then he/she is either eating too much or too much of the wrong kind of food, or, not getting enough exercise, or, a combination of both. Before starting on a weight loss regime it is a good idea to weigh your dog and then to do this every couple of weeks to check on progress. It also helps avoid stomach cramps that can occur when dried food absorbs moisture and swells in the stomach.
