Obscuro!: May 2014
http://obscurowidr.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
A mix of the out-of-print, out-of-the-ordinary, and the simply out-of-their-minds. Saturday, May 24, 2014. Bobby Brown - Discography. No, not THAT Bobby Brown. This is a bizarro one-man-band from Hawaii who recorded during the mid-seventies. I don't know why this guy's stuff is slowly disappearing from the internet, because it is quite exceptional. It kind of bridges the (albeit large) gap between spaced-out new age drone and psych-folk, with a lot of laid-back Hawaiian influence as well. 1 I Must Be Born.

We aren't very enthusiastic about asking for donations these days, but oh well. Sometimes we're funny. Obscuro!: July 2014
http://obscurowidr.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
A mix of the out-of-print, out-of-the-ordinary, and the simply out-of-their-minds. Saturday, July 26, 2014. Depressive Tongue Posse - 'Highworld' Mixtape. This came out last week. It's pretty nuts. Guest spots include MC Trachiotomy, Finnish hip-hopper Tuuttimorko, and UK rapper holy BLASKO. DTP has officially added Ohio weirdo-rapper Boy Froot, so he's on most of the tracks in addition to the other two rappers. Tracks range from trap, lo-fi, boom-bap, to pretty experimental stuff. It's free, too. Depres...

A mix of the out-of-print, out-of-the-ordinary, and the simply out-of-their-minds. Saturday, September 13, 2014. More incredibly strange metal. Here are a few more of these oddball metal releases I've collected over the years. First, two non-classics from the Metal Enterprises label. See this post. For more info on that fiasco. Yeah Fucking whistling solos on what is essentially a thrash metal song ('Czarewitch'). Oh well, the first album is enjoyably funny at least. 1 Devil's Your Hero. Lastly, here's a...

Obscuro!: 2 classics of 'incredibly strange metal'
http://obscurowidr.blogspot.com/2014/09/2-classics-of-incredibly-strange-metal.html
A mix of the out-of-print, out-of-the-ordinary, and the simply out-of-their-minds. Sunday, September 7, 2014. 2 classics of 'incredibly strange metal'. Here are a couple relics from my days as a metal radio guy. Hopefully I will put some other stuff like this up here in the near future. First up, an experimental death metal band from Italy called Trifixion. Apparently they only put out this one album, in 1995, although there is at least one other band with the same name. 1 Fear, Is All That I See. Next i...

The FPE: July 2013
http://francespicks.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
A new kind of recommendation engine. Wednesday, July 31, 2013. Form follows function, in an infinite tautology. They put each other on display. Means can be used to shape or create; limitations liberate. Means grant vision. Options are all there is. Do minds provide direction? Is the process of evolution, of adapting forms, of balancing, directed? Expression is a beloved activity of humans. It proves self, agency; once uttered, it can't be denied. There's just the little matter of memory. You...It's the ...
