New Toy: Garmin Forerunner 410! This week my 3 mile runs went pretty well. So I slept in. I felt great on miles 1,2. How about you all? How i...

Tri-ing to stay focused: September 2008

Tri-ing to stay focused. Friday, September 19, 2008. So this is the week where I have to decide if I sign up to do Ironman Wisconsin next year. Since the race, I have not, as David suggested I might, wanted to sell all or even any of my Triathlon gear. I really love the whole swimming, biking, and running routine and lifestyle. It's tempting, but I think I will have to pass for a year. sigh. Tuesday, September 9, 2008. IMooo Race Report (Part 1 of 4). Ultimate Goal: to Finish. Rain shower later on in the...

How is everyone's training going. I have heard from Anne, but not Jess or Eric lately. What's working? Have a great week! Cheryl J. Machovec Dehn. Repeat to self: JD...

Tri-ing to stay focused. Tuesday, October 23, 2007. 30th Annual Detroit Marathon. My First Marathon. Part 1 of 2 or 3. I would like to thank the fine folds at Runner's World for their Smart Coach Training program. http:/ www.runnersworld.com/. Without their plan, I would not have stayed motivated or on track with the whole marathon training thing. My training plan consisted of 3 runs per week:. 1) A 5-8 mile interval or tempo (a fast but not too fast pace that one could hold for 3-6 miles. This was a hug...

Tri-ing to stay focused: April 2008

Tri-ing to stay focused. Tuesday, April 29, 2008. I haven't been to a Red Wings playoff game since they last won Lord Stanley's Cup in 2002. Overall, I am in a much happier place in life, and was happy to share the experiance with David. Although, during the game I sent the following text message to my friend Carla, with whom I had gone to the last game, six years ago: "Carla, I Am At The Wings/avs Game. Ozzy In Goal. Wings Up 4 To 1 In The2nd. Miss You.". Note: Chris Osgood was the Wings Goalie in 2002.

Polar Bears in Churchill - Independent and on the Cheap. September 17, 2009 8:11 PM. Well, this one sorta miraculously fell together. For a quick few days this November we'll be in Churchill, Manitoba to check out some Polar Bears. Then later in life after they've all drowned, we'll be able to tell our grandchildren: Back in our day, we had Polar Bears And then we'll all have a cry together. Motel reservations combed the internets for email addresses for all the lodging in Churchill. The num...Up to ...

August 6, 2011 3:18 PM. It took 41 weeks and 5 days, but at 5:49pm on August 5th Jordi Ponnusamy was born. For those keeping score: 8 pounds 9 ounces spread across 21 inches. After a couple days and sleepless nights filled with contractions, we arrived at Puget Sound Birth Center at 1pm yesterday and were back home with Jordi precisely four hours after his birth. Amazing. First, we'll say that the Eastside Midwives team at PSBC. Were amazing can't recommend them enough. Second, Penny Simkin's. He is g...

July 17, 2011 11:22 PM. Writing this post many months later, I'm still impressed we popped in and out of Yemen with such ease. Shortly after we left, I saw reports online of foreigners being deported on arrival. And now you would be hard pressed to even have a visa issued. We woke up early to hit the Pyramids shortly after the gates opened. Before heading out we grabbed breakfast in the hotel restaurant where there was one other table occupied by tourists. This was just a few weeks ...Our patience in...

January 24, 2010 12:43 AM. The paper shredder I got Lillie for her 28th birthday had set a pretty high bar for gifts. So for Lillie's 30th, we're heading to Cape Town, South Africa for the next several days. Making it all the better, we're heading there via Hong Kong in first class on Cathay Pacific. No more of this business class nonsense! We'll be celebrating the big day with Krug champagne and caviar on the 16.5 hour flight from JFK to Hong Kong. First Class to South Africa.
