What happens in a session? Each week the children attend a 2 hour session with their parent or caregiver. There are only 4 or 5 children in a session. As well as group music the 4 therapists spend an individual 20 minute session with each of the children and their families, working together to develop practical strategies and to establish programmes that can be continued in the home and community. The Service Co-ordinator organises the programmes and services offered to all the children enrolled at this centre, including liasing with any health or education agency involved with the individual child. This includes a lot of support, advice, information and advocacy especially when the time comes to enrol at an early childhood centre or school. Information concerning allowances, entitlements and subsidies is provided after a family has visited and enrolled at the centre.

All therapists are fully qualified, registered and hold current practising certificates in their individual professions. Professional development is offered regularly to ensure the therapists are kept up to date with all current developments, trends and practises. The specialist therapies that we provide include physiotherapy, speech language therapy, early intervention teaching, music therapy and the service co-ordinator organises the day to day operating of the centre:.

Our Speech Language Therapists provide individual programmes that help develop both expressive and receptive communication skills. In some cases, this may mean teaching children and families to use signing, pictures and symbols or some form of technology to help develop these skills. Our Physiotherapists help with the achievement of physical skills in children at all levels of development. They assess for and access equipment that may be needed such as wheelchairs and mobility aids. They provide specific individualised programmes for children who have motor and/or sensory difficulties, which may also include poor co-ordination and balance.
