Monday, September 5, 2011. Sorry guys. I've been just too busy with two kids and no husband home, so I haven't made any cute cakes in a awhile. But I did let someone cute make a cake:. I did the sides and edges and helped my cute little guy hold the frosting bag and let him go to town! He sure thought it was fun. I think he did a great job, don't you? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Nichols Crew: another crafty day...
http://mommacheezewiz.blogspot.com/2009/12/another-crafty-day.html
Monday, December 14, 2009. I had fun recycling Jenna's jeans today. Both pairs had holes in the knees. The first one is just a plain ruffle from some scrap material. The second is more tulle scraps from my tutu makin' days. I think both turned out pretty cute. We like her multi-colored tights with this one.makes it funky. We even threw together a piece of the leg and scrap ribbons into a little purse. Cute, cute, cute. Less poofy? Tue Dec 15, 08:09:00 AM CST. I agree with Amy. Keep the poof! Chaussures n...

Heather Cakes: December 2010

View my complete profile. Wednesday, December 15, 2010. It was far from perfect, but here is the carousel cake I made for my daughter's 2nd birthday, which had a carnival theme. I was pretty pleased with how this cake turned out! And most importantly, all the guests at the party remarked on how good it tasted {I do boxed cake mix and make my own buttercream using Serious Cakes recipe. The lines weren't all perfect, but this was by far the most complicated cake I've made to date, so I'll go easy on myself.

Heather Cakes: May 2009

View my complete profile. Monday, May 18, 2009. This is my first ever fondant cake. It was a *lot* of fun to make but. I don't really get fondant. As cool as it is on a cake {although I've always preferred the look of a nice fluffy frosting myself} it tastes like it has paint thinner in it. You have to saw through the fondant to cut it. Most people just peel it off instead of eating it with the cake {isn't that just a waste? Because most people don't like to have to chew. Their frosting that thoroughly.

Here is my Course 3 finale cake - a two-tier wedding cake. Pretty frilly, isn't it? The stringwork gave me a lot. Of trouble. Grr. But over all it turned out pretty well. At the top are three royal icing hearts leaning against each other to make a cake topper. My borders are really good, yes? So there you have it, my first ever tiered cake.

Heather Cakes: {First Birthday Cake!}
http://heathercakes.blogspot.com/2009/08/first-birthday-cake.html
View my complete profile. Saturday, August 8, 2009. Today was the first birthday party for my baby girl, Eisley, and this is her birthday cake! It was Alice in Wonderland themed, so I went with a simplistic "Queen of Hearts" thing for the cake. The three tiers are covered in marshmallow fondant. It was my first time working with MMF, and I love it. Once you get used to how it works, it's SO easy! It looked great with "the spread". And Eisley claimed the top tier for herself.
