A Lure and Bass Fishing Blog by Keir Sims. More fun in the SIB, new experiences and learning curves! May 31, 2015. Or maybe it’s just not the right time of year? We will certainly be back to try again and see if we can sus out some of these offshore reefs and banks. Well I guess we couldn’t have asked for a better start or could it be the first cast curse? I much prefer to fish them on a fixed jighead, sacrilege? Maybe but they still catch me fish and after good amount of Pollock and Wrasse my 120 body w...

https://lurethatfish.com/about-me
A Lure and Bass Fishing Blog by Keir Sims. In 2010 I turned my interest to lure fishing after bait fishing for a few years. The idea of travelling light, being highly mobile and not having to buy bait really appeals to me. Plus I looked at it as a new challenge! Lure fishing has lead me to more and better fish than ever before! I just hope you enjoy the reports and can find some of the information useful that I provide as I learn. A Lure and Bass Fishing Blog by Keir Sims. Cornish Lure Festival 2015. July 10, 2015. The Cornwall Lure festival was something I was really looking forward to this year. I was a bit slow to buying the tickets due to money constraints but finally got it done and it was game on. This year I did go a little mental and me and Tim decided to head down to Cornwall a couple days before to give us some time to try and find some fish before the comp started. Tim didn’t look to happy either but I wasn’...I met Tim...

Shore Sessions | lurethatfish

A Lure and Bass Fishing Blog by Keir Sims. June 29, 2015. Apologies to any readers for the lack of updates recently, I have been really busy and any free time I have had, you guessed it… I’ve been fishing. With not a lot to shout about. I have had my fair share of blanks though they have mainly come from the daylight hours where I have been trying to get back into my surface fishing. I then proceeded to hook a good fish just a few turns in of the handle, a good scrap ensued but the hooks pulled half way ...

A Lure and Bass Fishing Blog by Keir Sims. It’s coming together nicely! July 8, 2015. Turns out I reckon I’ve done more fishing from my SIB than I have from the shore this month! And I guess lucky to get some good weather to be able to as well! I’m really enjoying some thing new at the moment and fishing from the boat is yet another learning curve for me. A stunning male Cuckoo Wrasse taken on a Fiiish Minnow 120 25gm. Hopefully we’ll be able to see more action from this mark in the future. Enter your co...

A Lure and Bass Fishing Blog by Keir Sims. How important is distance? August 5, 2015. I’ve just realised it’s been a while since I did my last blog post! Maybe I just needed to recover after the last… So how important is distance? Tim with his summer Cod! It was proper pissing down at this point and I wasn’t getting my camera out. Luckily Kory’s phone was waterproof…. Me with Kory’s fish after I landed it. I was struggling to use his phone. This entry was posted in The Fishing. And tagged Arctic Eel.

What happened to spring? | lurethatfish

A Lure and Bass Fishing Blog by Keir Sims. What happened to spring? May 6, 2015. Two or three weeks ago the cold of winter seemed like a distant haunt. The sun was beaming down and we hit 24 degrees at the peak of the day! It felt good real good! Friends continued the form and landed more fish in the following nights but I couldn’t get out. Not the 60 I had been hoping for but a very welcome fish all together and good to get the ball rolling. I then had a brief period off and with some South westerly win...

A Lure and Bass Fishing Blog by Keir Sims. Heaven and Hell, underlying reel problems. May 17, 2015. Not so much of a catch report but me venting my bemusement… I have this mark that is probably hardly ever fished. Only known by a few of the older locals and apparently old hunting grounds of book writer Alan Vaughn ”Hooked on bass” as I ended up bumping into a friend of his down there. Tim with a nice 55cm Bass taken at night on a Komomo 2 90 on a slow straight rerieve. This entry was posted in The Fishing.
