Governor Ernie Fletcher presented Tamarlane Industries with a check for $1 million on May 25, 2006. The money was part of a Community Development Block Grant applied for by the Ohio County Fiscal court on Tamarlane's behalf. The money will be used to refurbish the existing building which houses the Tamarlane operations. Kevin Perry has been chosen as the architect to oversee this project. The first phase will be to repair the roof; 2nd phase electrical upgrade; 3rd phase remodel the bathrooms.

In January 1983, Tamarlane Industries opened for services in a previously unused classroom of the Ohio County Vocational School. Beginning that year with three (3) employees, the workshop served eight (8) people at the end of 1983. Initial work of gardening/greenhouse and printing evolved into sub-contracted work from local business and industry. The workshop currently serves 42 sheltered employees and 78 staff members.
