The Drake Family Adventures: Nap Time
http://drakefamilyadventures.blogspot.com/2012/04/nap-time.html
Tuesday, April 3, 2012. Ella likes to read books in her bed before she falls asleep. When I checked on her the other day, I saw that she was still reading and quietly began to close the door before she saw me. Then, I heard snoring. I walked up to the side of her crib and saw that she had fallen asleep like this! She had made it to the last page, and ironically, it was about Daddy carrying his tired princess up to bed and Mommy tucking her in. Perfect page to drift off to sleep to! The Hubby and Me.

The Drake Family Adventures: April 2011

Thursday, April 28, 2011. We kicked off our Easter weekend on Friday morning. Melissa came over and helped us dye eggs for the first time. Ben was impressed with all of her different dying techniques - especially marbling and the half and half trick! The kids preferred to use their hands to dip the eggs instead of a spoon, which led to some interesting colored fingernails for the remainder of the weekend! Picking out the perfect sticker takes some serious concentration! Ben showing off his marbled egg.

The Drake Family Adventures: December 2010
http://drakefamilyadventures.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 22, 2010. Our First Christmas Tree. In our 7 years of marriage, we have never had a real Christmas tree. We have always lived out of state and come back to IL for a week or two around Christmas, and it was just never very practical. To get one. Sooo. We went all out this year and decided to join members of Carl's family on a true Christmas tree adventure. The day after Thanksgiving, we braved the frigid temps and traveled to Talbott's. It is a beauty! Ben loves sitting in front of our...

The Drake Family Adventures: February 2012
http://drakefamilyadventures.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 28, 2012. Ben and I have noticed that lately, Dylan has taken a particular interest in looking at the fans in our house. So today we thought we would really shake things up for the little man - we turned one on! Oh, the excitement! Here are a few things that I overheard Ben saying while watching the fan together. If you think this is fun, just WAIT until we turn it on! Oh, I bet you're cold now, mommy, we need to get him a blanket! Look, your hands are folded. Are you praying? I haven't...

The Drake Family Adventures: February 2011

Wednesday, February 16, 2011. Ben had been looking forward to making Valentine's Day cookies since we bought the sprinkles 3 weeks ago! So on Saturday, we opened up our bakery and made cut out sugar cookies. It turned into a several hour process since I realized. Ben's face pretty much sums up how he felt about decorating the frosted cookies! He did show surprising restraint! Such a devious little grin she has - all Carl! First batch all ready to be packaged! Ella is very excited about Paige's little sis...

The Drake Family Adventures: June 2011
http://drakefamilyadventures.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 5, 2011. The kids and I just spent a week in Perdido. Key with my mom, Aunt Paula, and cousin, Maddie. The kids loved the beach and pool. Ben had fun building houses in the sand and then searching for pipes (sticks) to put on top. Ella would have preferred to spend her entire vacation in the water, but when she wasn't swimming in the pool or ocean, she played with a bucket of water and 2 watering cans. Ella was quite the pill on this trip! It probably didn't help that we started off the trip...

The Drake Family Adventures: March 2012
http://drakefamilyadventures.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 19, 2012. Because I spent so much time planning the nursery for our little girl, I had to take a few pictures before we make it a tad more masculine for Dylan! I made the fabric poms hanging above the crib. I was half way through the third one when I went into labor with Dylan, and they were very time consuming to make, so I'm glad I didn't waste 3 more hours finishing the last one! I completely fell in love with these curtains when I saw them on Pinterest. Sunday, March 18, 2012. I sent ou...

The Drake Family Adventures: Weekend with Aunt Kimmie and Uncle Andrew
http://drakefamilyadventures.blogspot.com/2012/04/weekend-with-aunt-kimmie-and-uncle.html
Friday, April 6, 2012. Weekend with Aunt Kimmie and Uncle Andrew. Last weekend, my sister and her fiance came for a visit. Aunt Kimmie enchanted Dylan with her amazing stories, and vice versa. We took advantage of this amazing spring weather and hiked at Parklands. Sunday afternoon. I was impressed with how well Ben and Ella did. They walked most of the time, although Ella was able to talk Uncle Andrew into giving her a couple of rides! Finding a good walking stick is key when embarking on a long hike!
