Joy in the midst of hardship. We are starting small. Adding twenty acres of agricultural development may seem to us a large undertaking, but it is a project that allows each of the 20 members of KRMA to develop one additional acre for which she will be accountable to the entire collective. Moreover, it is not my. I can’t. And ...Fill in...

Views from a Japanese mountainside. Friday, July 25, 2014. THE CURSES OF YOUNG CROW. Anybody who still believes that crows don’t swear was definitely not in bed with me this morning. I. And in a bird so young! Just confirms my long-held belief that cursing is an elemental drive. Life does have its needs. Posted by Robert Brady. Friday, July 25, 2014. Great post. Im not surprised the crow picked up your cursing. Well never know how far afield our influence on the world goes. Ongoing: The Monsanto Page.

Views from a Japanese mountainside. Sunday, May 24, 2015. ALONE WITH THE STAIRWAY. Soon after my release from the hospital in February, I visited home for a few hours during the late deeps of winter up here, to get an early start on the domestic personal Everests. Primarily I wanted to scale the escarpment of steps to the distant second floor, my first stairway attempt; it loomed in the subjective mists like the Stairway to Heaven. Endless list of other new tasks to master while my hand and leg are findi...

Views from a Japanese mountainside. Saturday, May 24, 2014. The rice is all planted, the grandmas are out in the paddies, planting the green shoots by hand in places the machines missed, and likely recalling the unbelievable ago, when entire mountainsides were planted by hand. Out in the same morning, watering some seedling flats, I am inspired with the fragrance of the blooming lilac and swirled into my own past, just standing there; it makes a tree of me. Views from a Japanese mountainside. Saturday, May 31, 2014. HOW TO USE A BOOK. That's how it felt when the other day I was wording on the computer, where I now mostly always handle words - workwise, not creativitywise - only now and then eccentrically making notes out in the infrastructural wilds, scribing cursive with pen and ink on paper, like a caveman sparking fire with stones in a cave in winter. My objective, and I found my word, for it had been a common word, not too long ago. Sad and true. Th...

Views from a Japanese mountainside. Monday, June 15, 2015. WATCHING RAIN ON TELEVISION. I was watching rain on television the other day like a modern person, you can still just slip into that mode sometimes without thinking. At first I didn't realize the bizarrity of the fact, but then it hit me: I was watching rain on television to find out whether it was raining outside. Water falling from the sky on us walking along!
