Introducing Elfbaby… the hat! | Woolly thoughts (and fuzzy logic)
https://woollythinker.wordpress.com/2014/07/24/introducing-elfbaby-the-hat
Woolly thoughts (and fuzzy logic). In the family way. Introducing Elfbaby… the hat! Five years ago I conceived a hat for my beloved Elfbaby. It would of course be a pixie-style hat, with a long point. It would have a garter stitch chevron border, to show off handpainted yarn and to allow plenty of stretch for growing heads. I planned to publish a pattern. Claudia modelling the Pumuckl border, in Cariad Newgale. I failed to do this. Max modelling the Pixi border, in Lang Jawoll Magic. A Twitter friend who...
On fundraising, karma and Elfbaby luck | Woolly thoughts (and fuzzy logic)
https://woollythinker.wordpress.com/2014/08/28/on-fundraising-karma-and-elfbaby-luck
Woolly thoughts (and fuzzy logic). On fundraising, karma and Elfbaby luck. Has been out in the world for about a month now after five years of gestation, a lot of growth seems to have happened in this first action-packed month. Luckily, unlike the real Elfbaby’s first month, none of this involved sleep deprivation, tears or crises of confidence. In fact, it’s been quite a confidence boost. I donated a copy of the pattern (plus yarn) as a karmic balancing gift for the Yarn Harlot’s annual. The gorgeous Gi...
I wanna hold your haaaaand… | Woolly thoughts (and fuzzy logic)
https://woollythinker.wordpress.com/2014/09/03/i-wanna-hold-your-haaaaand
Woolly thoughts (and fuzzy logic). I wanna hold your haaaaand…. Well, I’m not sure if I do, really, but is that what you want? The familiar question of handholding in pattern writing came up again on Twitter this week. Tends to provoke strong feelings, so I’m going to come out right now with my opinion. I say absolutely, definitely maybe. No fence sitting for me. Here’s my earlier comment:. The question about “dependent knitters” I think comes from comparing modern patterns with the kind that...But even ...
Vive la difference? | Woolly thoughts (and fuzzy logic)

Woolly thoughts (and fuzzy logic). In the family way. As Max grows, there are a whole new set of comparisons to draw against Claudia. The one giving us grey hairs right now is that, while she was a demanding infant but super-sweet, biddable,. Toddler, he’s… not. Well, sweet, yes, absolutely; he is still King of Cuddles, cheerful and affectionate and utterly delicious. But biddable? 8220;Oh,” people love to comment, “he’s a BOY. Now you see the difference.”. And the biddable thing? Well, my friend Pip has...

https://socktopusunplugged.wordpress.com/2012/03/03/whats-in-a-name-a-helluva-lot-of-negotiation
Get me outta here! What’s in a name? A helluva lot of negotiation! Well, we finally settled on a name, but wanted to test it for a week before making it official, just in case we changed our minds. Test period is up, so let me introduce you to our daughter Amandine Isobelle Cotton-Yu. Amandine is pronounced long a as in ahhh, mun, long e as in deen, with the accent on the deen. Sometimes nothing beats a nice hot shower. 27 thoughts on “ What’s in a name? A helluva lot of negotiation! Well done you guys!

I realised I was still tired this afternoon when I was knitting in a car and I couldn’t make 42 stitches stay as 42 stitches. I’m still swithering (ooh, what a good word that is) about what to be writing here… I have no focus/energy for long posts at the moment. I’m afraid you’ll have to put up with this drivel. Why does drivel only have one ‘v’? No Time To Say It.

Woolly's Weird World
Friday, 28 October 2011. It was my birthday last week. How on earth did this happen? I can no longer say I am in my early thirties as I creep closer to the big 4-0. Bum. Still, it wasn’t all bad. The last few birthdays have coincided with my evening class and gym shifts so I wasn’t really able to enjoy it or do much. This year the celebrations started on Wednesday evening and were drawn out until Monday. My present from Lady G was mint. She had tracked down a copy of this for me:. I also got some present...
WOOLLY TALES...
Saturday, June 1, 2013. Where Does Time Go? I have never really been blessed with remembering years. Like, 'the blizzard of '68' or the 'flood of ;75' or whatever. Basically I remember the year I was born (the number, not the event), the year I graduated - and that's really about it. I am intensely visual, which isn't always a blessing, so I remember people and events, just not the year it happened. They grow up fast. Monday, June 11, 2012. Today I Flew a Kite. Posted using BlogPress from my iPad. I have...

The Lazy Baker. Making egg and dairy free treats quickly with as little washing up as possible. That way there is more time to play with yarn and fabric. Me Made May: Week 1 ish. 11 May, 2015. I’ve been wearing some things I made. I may even have learnt a little about what I like in a garment. I really thought I’d be wearing sewn dresses, but it’s been a bit chilly so it’s been more like woolly jumpers. We went for a walk, so out came a short dress to wear with leggings, and thick hand knit welly socks.
