Lee and Holly Woolsey Family: Homecoming activities

http://www.woolsey-family.blogspot.com/2011/10/homecoming-activities.html

Lee and Holly Woolsey Family. Monday, October 17, 2011. Homecoming parade on Main Street. Nathan is on this float with the Football Team (but he is on the other side so we couldn't get a picture of him). Dennis, Abbie, Holly and Luke sat on the curb, gathering candy and cheering at the parade. The Drill Team put signs on all the Football players houses for the big Homecoming game! We are crushing 'em! Dennis took Cassidy Torgerson to the Homecoming Dance. I helping get their flowers on them.

Lee and Holly Woolsey Family. Thursday, August 25, 2011. First Day of School! On the first day of school, it's tradition to get up extra early and eat breakfast at a restaurant. We left our house at 6:15 am to eat at Denny's in Salina. The sun wasn't even up yet! Nathan and Abbie decide what to order. Luke already knows what he wants! It's a hard decision for Nicholas.or maybe he's just trying to remember his multiplication facts! Look how I can smash a crayon! Thursday, August 18, 2011. Then Dennis dump...

Saturday, January 29, 2011. Our new favorite place in Okinawa is Kouri Island! Until 1995, you had to take a ferry to this tiny island. Now, because of the construction of Okinawa's longest island bridge, you can drive! See the red "you are here" dot? Kouri Bridge over the Seto Inland Sea. Crossing the bridge on ripstiks! The view from the bridge. The beautiful island beaches! Sea glass, shells and coral. Trading a Snickers for a stalk of sugarcane. A sugarcane field resident. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Monday, February 14, 2011. Setsubun - Chasing Evil Spirits Away. Why would millions of Japanese throw roasted soybeans both inside and outside of their homes every February? They're not only welcoming good luck, but also driving sickness, evil spirits, and bad luck away. That's Setsubun! This is how you do it: Throw beans outside from doorways and windows, while shouting " oni wa soto. Or "devils out," then throw them inside while saying " fuku wa uchi. Tuesday, June 7, 2011. Miyajima - "Shrine Island". One of the most revered places in Japan is Miyajima, a little island off the coast of Hiroshima. It's considered so sacred that for more than a thousand years, out of respect for the island's gods, no one dared live there, and commoners were not allowed to even set foot on the island! The ferry ride to Miyajima. Approaching the island and its famous torii gate. And the message they brought? This five-layered pagoda was built in 1407, and restored in 1533!

Tuesday, September 6, 2011. Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami Volunteer Work. On March 11, a magnitude 9.0 earthquake struck northeastern Japan. It was so powerful that it moved Honshu, Japan's main island, 8 feet eastward, and triggered a giant tsunami that wiped out numerous cities. In some areas, the tsunami traveled up to 6 miles inland, sweeping buildings, cars, people and walls of debris along with it. Driving through Rikuzentakata took our breath away! Through the bus window. Our assignment was to hel...

Woolsey Family Chronicles

Documenting raising triplets and their wild big sister. I have moved my blog! Please visit www.woolsey6.com! Last Sunday April 23. It was worth the effort though. Just to sit on the grass and watch the kids run freely and happily in the sunshine was a treat. Ava rode laps on her bike and then I saw her hop off her bike and start jogging on the trail, helmet and all. She got a few yards in her jog and stopped because she was exhausted. That was Ava's attempt at a mini-tri. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
