五月 16, 2015. 五月 16, 2015. 後來M女士翻查動物網頁，才知新訪客是北美負鼠( Virginia opossum ) ，是目前在加拿大國境內唯一被發現的有袋動物。 自此，M女士每晚都和小桃有個約會，(那怕只是單方面的約會) ，小桃的習性很快便被看得一清二楚了，牠不但愛吃桃子(peach)，也喜歡吃園中昆蟲，例如黑蛞蝓(slugs) 和蝸牛(snails) ，有時也會逗留在雀鳥喝水器旁，狀似細細呻着清水，其實看看有沒有機會捕捉小鳥，一飽口福之慾。 後記 北美負鼠(Opossum ) 又稱袋貂，也是我首次聽聞的動物，以下是我在網上找到一則関於負鼠的趣聞。 This entry was posted in Uncategorized. 3 thoughts on “ 名叫小桃的負鼠. 五月 16, 2015 at 9:34 上午. 五月 18, 2015 at 6:43 下午. 五月 21, 2015 at 7:50 下午. 六月 6, 2015. 他是女兒的寵物貓, 十八年前, 女兒嫁雞隨雞(女婿生肖屬雞) , 婚後隨丈夫由温哥華東遷到多倫多去。 在那邊, 女兒從寵物店選購了一隻Himalayan BB貓來飼養, 本來標價是C$1000大元的, 女兒用C$399便買到了, 何解? 因為當時正值Back To School Sale. 減價又關放完暑假事? 所謂Himalayan Cat(喜瑪拉雅貓) , 名稱之由來, 源於這種貓的長相和相同名字的兔子(Himalayan Rabbit) 相似之故, 實在和世界屋脊Mount Himalaya (喜瑪拉雅山) 一點關係也扯不上。 女兒抱Himmie(通常叫Himalayan Cat的暱稱) 回家時才四個月大, 個子細小(因他是同一窩BB貓的最細孻仔) , 圓頭和圓滾滾藍色的大眼晴, 卻配了一雙小巧的耳朵, 四肢粗短, 但頗健壯有力, 前後腳都是美麗的灰藍色, 像穿了整齊的短襪, 也像套上滾軸溜冰鞋, 女婿說不如就叫小貓Roller好了。 他走路姿態從容美妙, 粗大的尾巴永遠只向左右兩邊擺, 不像其他短毛貓, 走起路來, 總是把尾巴高高舉起, 像豎國旗一般。 為了引起貓兒的食慾...

六月 25, 2015. 生平第一次看見蝌蚪是在香港深水灣, 你或許會懷疑的問: 不是吧! 時維1950年代初期, 深水灣是個比較偏僻的沙灘, 很少人問津, 當年的深水灣, 沒有任何設施, 更衣室、淋浴場所、快餐亭、救生員, 一概欠奉, 只有少數泳客, 像我們一家, 嫌棄淺水灣太熱鬧, 太擠迫, 寧願先穿上泳衣打底, 才來到這幽靜的沙灘, 享受較清涼潔淨的海水。 在我記憶中, 原始的深水灣有着它迷人的地方, 沙灘不算很大, 但沙白細滑, 水質澄清, 雖然海灣的水比較深, 但總難不到擅泳的人。 沙灘東端灣頭仍佈滿大石, 而且就近還有一混凝土水渠, 水渠本來是埋在地底的, 由沙灘北面的高爾夫球場, 通過馬路, 引進到沙灘來了, 但一到沙灘便變成露天的水溝了, 要知道沙灘是漸漸向下傾斜到海邊的, 水溝只伸延一小段路便和沙灘融合(merge) 了, 所以水溝並沒有將沙灘分成左右兩半(這樣, 水溝的淡水才不會給海水混和了)。 我和妹妹是最先發現水溝中有蝌蚪的, 興奮不已, 小小黑色的蝌蚪長相奇特, 身體呈紡錘形, 無四肢, 卻有長長的尾巴, 看牠們擺動長尾, 產生動力, 便可輕快靈活的在水中游來游去了.

四月 26, 2015. 在X光室內整整30分鐘，照了差不多十多張X光片才完工，回到候診床位，又是等呀等的，終於值日醫生來了，她是位白人中年女士，看來很有學養似的，她說從X光片看不出我的左膝有什麼不妥，最可能是膝關節內的Meniscus出了問題，若要徹底弄清楚是否 Meniscus Tears，非要照準確性達95 的MRI (磁功共震) 不可。 半月板充填於股骨 (femur) 和脛骨 (tibia) 之間，像兩塊墊片，主要功用是分散關節軟骨 (articular cartilage) 上的負荷。 如果照值日醫生所言，是 Meniscus Tears (半月板撕裂) 就大件事了，由於膝關節活動不協調，如踢球時踢空，跑步中被絆倒，或膝蓋承受太大壓力等等，都會使膝關節扭傷，導致半月板卡在股骨和脛骨之間，產生極大的痛楚。 This entry was posted in 貓貓世界. 七月 14, 2015. 是仲春的一個周日, 在高速公路上, 汽車一出温哥華, 向 Coquitlam 和Pitt Meadows 駛去的途中, 全程均見白色的野菊綿絮在漫天飛舞, 我雖患花粉症, 心知綿絮是致敏源, 但眼前如雪花的飛絮, 在碧空無雲的天際, 輕盈瀟灑地隨風飄盪, 煞是可愛。 這個景象，旋即使我聯想起香港的紅棉樹 (Red Silk Cotton Tree)。 我的母校在港島麥當奴道上, 沒有汽車送上學的日子, 我總愛坐電車到花園道口, 步行至山頂纜車站, 轉入左手路旁小徑, 通往堅尼地道去。 每年二三月先開花, 後長葉, 像櫻花樹一般。 許多時候, 我喜歡拾起一朵被强風吹落到路面的木棉花, 將它翻來覆去看個究境。 花在掌心中, 有厚重的感覺, 花冠五瓣, 色橙紅, 肥大的花朵, 有革質的黑褐色花萼承托, 十分穩固。 花, 大都嬌柔纖巧, 唯獨木棉花, 卻有粗獷陽剛之美。 小徑路上除了掉下的木棉花, 也有許多小段折枝, 何解呢? 原來木棉樹的木質頗軟, 曾目睹綠色鸚鵡四五隻, 把樹上幼枝啄斷來嬉戲。 木棉花開盡後, 便結橢圓形碩果, 到五月果實成熟裂開, 果皮內壁的白色棉絮, 便隨風四散。

七月 27, 2015. 移民前留香港最後一年, 我參加了學校舉辦的教職員退修會, 會址在沙田道風山上, 可能我認為這是最後一次上道風山, 後會未必有期, 所以特別珍惜這次靈修之旅。 有馬來西亞讀者, 或有不知何謂道風山的, 就讓我簡短介紹一下。 遠在1904年挪威宣教士艾香德牧師( Dr. Rarl Ludvig Reichelt ) 東來中國傳揚基督教, 閒時愛郊遊, 尤喜拜訪各處佛教寺院, 目的是要了解中國人的信仰, 聞說他曾到訪湖南溈山佛寺, 聽到暮鼓晨鐘, 深受啟發和感動。 1930年他到香港創辦了道風山基督教叢林(Tao Fung Shan Christian Centre). 原意是向雲遊四海的佛教僧侶傳講福音。 當中有不少在山上修道, 漸受艾牧師的潛移默化, 繼而信主, 受洗後更成為信義會的同工, 艾牧師藉此將基督教本土化, 從而使中國人更容易接受福音。 在繁忙的教學生涯中, 生活刻板嚴正, 有時真的要退下來, 思想生命的重心, 平衡一下緊張的情緒, 好叫老師們重新得力, 面向新的學年, 所以退修對教師是好的。 退修那天, 校長及全體老師分乘數輛汽車, 離開校門, 直向沙田駛去。

四月 7, 2015. 又話回香港時，要去某家士多，探望聞名已久的尖東忌廉哥，由於以往兒子也曾提及忌亷哥的事，旦旦對這同類也略有所聞，知道忌亷哥是英國短毛貓，自己則是 European Shorthair, 算不算是鄉里呢 又知忌亷哥幫主人看檔，是全職店長，極有本領和魅力，旦旦不禁心生疑慮，兒子一家對自己的愛會不會被忌亷哥分薄了 幸而今次我們兩老沒有跟着一起去，仍留守在家中，和旦旦日日相伴，對牠寵愛有加，夜裏也特准牠跳上床和我們一起睡。 This entry was posted in 貓貓世界. Review} Third Grave Dead Ahead. Third Grave Dead Ahead (Charley Davidson, #3). I’ve been through three books of this series. THREE! AND I SHALL HAVE NO MORE! The stuff he did to Charley (Chaining her up, punching her in the head, etc.) was unforgivable. I understand that sometimes in fantasy/paranormal type books like this, the world is harder and the characters endure a lot, but Reyes just seemed more like a horrible villain instead of the guy we were supposed to fall in love with. Come on, Charley!
