Fiction for kids - words for thought

http://www.wordsforthought.com/fiction-for-kids.html

What are words for thought? From time to time, I write stories for kids, mostly picture book texts. The quality has improved over the years, thanks to conferences sponsored by The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. And talented critique partners and services. I just need to submit. It's not the rejection that daunts me, it's the time it takes to find an appropriate publishing house and editor. Baby, Bee, Butterfly. A picture book text for preschoolers. The Bookworm and the Bees.

What are words for thought? Below is the eclectic group of former clients for whom I've written. Media releases, customer stories, web copy, and user's guides, among other corporate. Most recently, I worked with Laura Douglas-Marquit, the founder of Joyful Movement, a health and wellness practice in Northern California, on the copy for a new website. The focus is on health and wellness coaching for individuals and organizations, which includes fitness, healing, stress reduction, and work transition.

What are words for thought? I write poetry when the spirit moves me. It's accidental because I haven't studied it and meter confounds me. What to Remember When Leaving. For the Pretty File. Duck, Duck, Goose! | Loretta's Bird Blog

https://lorettac.wordpress.com/2010/04/25/duck-duck-goose

Loretta's Bird Blog. My Life with Birds and Other Woodland Creatures. What brought this on? Duck, Duck, Goose! Finally, after a long, hard winter, I can finally say… IT’S BABY BIRD SEASON! All winter we had been caring for grown, injured animals: hawks, ducks, geese, mourning doves, skunks, possums, a fox, even a salamander that Mark and I released in Golden Gate park one rainy night. It was sweet and rewarding, but slow. Finches, and chickadees, and mockingbirds, oh my! 8212; and to the birds themselves...

Two doves… where? | Loretta's Bird Blog

https://lorettac.wordpress.com/2012/02/02/two-doves-where

Loretta's Bird Blog. My Life with Birds and Other Woodland Creatures. What brought this on? Two doves… where? We first spotted them at the airport on Oahu as we were changing planes. They are small, shy, and beautiful. I made Mark wait with our luggage so I could get some pictures. And when we didn’t see them, we heard them — the quiet, but persistent hoooo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hooo-hooo. A bit like a Mourning Dove, but different. They were introduced to Hawaii from Asia in 1922, and they are here to stay. I love...

Loretta's Bird Blog. My Life with Birds and Other Woodland Creatures. What brought this on? November 22, 2010. Okay, it’s been a ridiculously long time since my last post and for that I am sorry. Here’s the roundup:. 8211; Had a good baby-bird season. It seemed a bit shorter than last year, but we fed and hustled a wonderful bunch of birds out into the world. (For video, see my earlier post. I could not beat last year’s filming.). 8211; Adopted a bunny. A quiet moment with an apple twig:. April 25, 2010.

Taming | Loretta's Bird Blog

https://lorettac.wordpress.com/2011/02/14/taming

Loretta's Bird Blog. My Life with Birds and Other Woodland Creatures. What brought this on? When the good people at the wildlife department of the Peninsula Humane Society gave me a baby jackrabbit to foster, they told me how and when to feed her (twice a day, dawnish and duskish) and how much (based on her weight, which I would hopefully be able to determine with the scale they loaned me). Whatever she thought she was doing, she did it fearlessly. And in that moment, I was tamed. Laquo; Previous Post.

The first squirrels of spring | Loretta's Bird Blog

https://lorettac.wordpress.com/2012/04/23/the-first-squirrels-of-spring

Loretta's Bird Blog. My Life with Birds and Other Woodland Creatures. What brought this on? The first squirrels of spring. It’s still rainy in the Bay Area but our birds, squirrels, and other woodland creatures are not to be fooled. Spring is here. I got the call to action from the wildlife department of the Peninsula Humane Society earlier this month, just a few days after my birthday…. PHS staff: “We have three baby squirrels, just under 4 weeks old. Do you want them? Http:/ s1257.photobucket.c...My an...

Loretta's Bird Blog. My Life with Birds and Other Woodland Creatures. What brought this on? What brought this on? There comes a point in most people’s lives when they have to pause, take stock, and face facts. A life in denial is not a fulfilling one. Before you can really live your life, you have to accept who you are. The idea to blog dropped from the sky, like most of my good ones, but I kept coming up with reasons not to do it because I knew it meant admitting and embracing a hard truth. Possibly the...

The Things I Know Now… (after fostering a baby jackrabbit) | Loretta's Bird Blog

https://lorettac.wordpress.com/2011/03/02/the-things-i-know-now-after-fostering-a-baby-jackrabbit

Loretta's Bird Blog. My Life with Birds and Other Woodland Creatures. What brought this on? The Things I Know Now… (after fostering a baby jackrabbit). Here’s what can I tell you about baby jackrabbits that I didn’t know three weeks ago…. I can tell you that jackrabbits are not rabbits but hares. This meant nothing to me, personally, but when I tell people they usually nod knowingly like it means something to them. (They obviously learned more in fifth grade science than I did.). My baby jackrabbit, hand...

Happy New Year! | Loretta's Bird Blog

https://lorettac.wordpress.com/2011/02/03/happy-new-year

Loretta's Bird Blog. My Life with Birds and Other Woodland Creatures. What brought this on? Welcome to year 4709, the Year of the Rabbit! According to one website, this year should be, “a placid year, very much welcomed and needed after the ferocious year of the Tiger. We should go off to some quiet spot to lick our wounds and get some rest after all the battles of the previous year.”. Sounds good to me. Though some of us think tranquility is a bit overrated! And one full of fresh greens! On The Things I...

Words For The Wounded

Words For The Wounded. Tuesday, 18 August 2015. Count down to the Muddy Military Challenge - 5 days to go by Margaret. Yes, we're ticking off the days, feeling totally confident - not. But the weather is set fair for rain, of course, which will wash off the mud as we go. Well, we have to put a positive spin on these things. Penny drifting on the thermals. Nonie, Josie and Meg deserve a special mention because they're coming straight from the airport after enjoying a holiday in Zante. As well as the above...

Words for the Year | “How odd I can have all this inside me and to you it’s just words.” ― David Foster Wallace

Words for the Year. How odd I can have all this inside me and to you it’s just words. David Foster Wallace. 8220;God Says Yes To Me” by Kaylin Haught. August 14, 2015. August 13, 2015. I asked God if it was okay to be melodramatic. And she said yes. I asked her if it was okay to be short. And she said it sure is. I asked her if I could wear nail polish. Or not wear nail polish. And she said honey. She calls me that sometimes. She said you can do just exactly. What you want to. Thanks God I said. Like dia...

I received this via email from my friend and mentor Dale Brown. During my tenure under Coach Brown, he was always at his best in difficult times. A great deal has to do with his attitude and the choice he makes not to accept adversity but to be invigorated by the challenge it creates. Here is his email:. 1 Retreat into the past.

words for thought - What are words for thought?

What are words for thought? What are words for thought? Stimulating thought is one of the goals of writing, along with eliciting emotion and inspiring action. For over 15 years, I worked as a freelance marketing writer and editor, mostly for growing technology companies and a few creative clients. It's a very flexible and challenging way to earn a living. Most of my efforts and energy for the next few years will be devoted to earning a master's degree in counseling through Northern Arizona University.

Words For Trade | The trade of stories, lessons and life.

The trade of stories, lessons and life. To talk about Things. July 17, 2015. July 17, 2015. There are things you can only talk about. Once you are far removed. Things you look at with sideways eyes,. And stare at across a full room. Which with spindly legs do creep the surface,. Hoping for a damp place to fester,. To nest, to gorge on sorrows full bloom. There are things that are never cool enough to pick up,. That stay white-poker-hot and smolder,. Yet the wound never cauterizes. Or momentary respite,.
