Network Days: DJFM 89
http://networkdays.blogspot.com/2010/03/djfm-89.html
Sunday, March 21, 2010. The last night of Srinagar positively created chaos in the minds of the sales guys. It was postive chaos! The incentive scheme that was quite different in nature had created the excitement. For every sale there were points to be earned and there werr variations depending upon models and quantities. Based on the points there were attractive prizes on offer and I remember the bumper was a Red Maruti 800 or atleast that's what the brochure depicted. A few of the office members looked...

Network Days: September 2009
http://networkdays.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 30, 2009. 400, 500, AGRA - 1986. The Taj Mahal was, is and always will be an attraction to Indians and people all over the world and when you are in Agra that’s the topic you would want to talk about. For this motley group of company executives however it was not Mumtaz but Canon that was occupying the mind space. I of course given my fancy for 5 star breakfasts spend a lot of time and that too circulating from table to table. I of course had this advantage of knowing people from...

Network Days: October 2009

Tuesday, October 13, 2009. I Dn Calcutta Mail - 1988. That’s the train I had booked myself into and I had booked First Class since I had a lot of luggage and I was entitled to it when compared to a Gitanjali Express 2nd AC! The farewell was super and then on the final day I left Mumbai for good. Thankfully there was no body to see me off at the Station and I had a quiet exit from Victoria Terminus! As usual when hierarchy increases things become formal and Mumbai was no different. Sanjiv's secretary ...

Network Days: Srinagar - A prelude to DJFM89
http://networkdays.blogspot.com/2010/03/i-am-always-fond-of-five-star-hotel.html
Thursday, March 11, 2010. Srinagar - A prelude to DJFM89. Some us were quickly trying to master the logic of the machine numbers, while others were gorging on the sumptuous menu of features and already making plans of beating PCL and Godrej. Whatever the feelings, we were all united and focused and excited about the immediate future. I knew it, since I was myself part of Mumbai earlier! A week went by just like that. The evenings wer full of booze and meat and some suspicious encounters too by opposi...

Network Days: DSR and OCA
http://networkdays.blogspot.com/2011/02/dsr-and-oca.html
Wednesday, February 23, 2011. So, what did the sales guys do? In Delhi they were the tea shops in and around Ashoka Estate while in Mumbai there was ample opportunity in Poonam Estate to disappear and not encounter the wrath of the Sales Manager. So that you do not think otherwise. I had banned that phrase later from usage because it meant nothing except the slang. It sort of ridiculed the manager I thought! So there was this Hot/Warm/Cold analysis with time dimensions and what have you. So it were t...

Network Days: November 2010
http://networkdays.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 3, 2010. The market was good and it was novel concept of having a slow moving high value product combined with a potentially faster moving item. What we also knew that was that the Maintenance Revenue earned through the Office Automation was business was being diverted to these new businesses leaving the OA population to start thinking about migration to the new avatar – Telecom. Himanshu Kapania the product manager for fax had created this elaborate paper on fax but that was not usef...

Network Days: October 2010

Sunday, October 31, 2010. The Indigenous Era - 1990-92. It was a classic normal curve where we were making merry of our existence on the peak. In the meantime I was personally getting sick of Kolkata Office with the atmosphere. People were leaving and I sensed a bit of downfall for that place, socially that is. One year had passed and again it was time for a change of role. Head office had this New Installtion Group(NIG) led by the efficeint and competent Devesh Nayel who was now transferred to Finan...
