confidentially, I think you should know that…. – whimsy and commonsense

https://workingmumdreaming.wordpress.com/2015/06/06/confidentially-i-think-you-should-know-that

Thoughts, words, pictures, ideas and the workings of a curious mind. Confidentially, I think you should know that…. June 6, 2015. I’m reading a wonderful tribute to a mother from a son, at the moment Unforgettable, by Scott Simon. I guess it has me wondering what, if anything, my own children know about me. Scott certainly knows a lot about his own mother, and has written a touching ‘warts and all’ tribute, embracing his mothers flaws as well as her other qualities. Or do they know that I was the only gi...

Saturday. Any Saturday. – whimsy and commonsense

https://workingmumdreaming.wordpress.com/2015/07/07/saturday-any-saturday

Thoughts, words, pictures, ideas and the workings of a curious mind. Saturday. Any Saturday. July 7, 2015. August 9, 2015. 0407 Cat scratching under bed. Usual ploy to get me up and make her breakfast. Attempt to ignore. 0408 Husband taps me and says CATS, then turns over to go to sleep. 0409 Get out of bed, put glasses on face and follow cat down the hall. She doesn’t want food. She doesn’t want to go out for a pee. She wants to play. 0700 Daughter leaves for work. Lets cats back in when she goes. 0710 ...

Wellness is the opposite of illness, right? – whimsy and commonsense

https://workingmumdreaming.wordpress.com/2015/07/02/wellness-is-the-opposite-of-illness-right

Thoughts, words, pictures, ideas and the workings of a curious mind. Wellness is the opposite of illness, right? July 2, 2015. July 2, 2015. The older I become, the harder I try to live my life RIGHT. Perhaps it is because, subconsciously, I am aware that a good portion of the life I have been allocated is now over? Living right, for me, means not wasting time. Consequently, I lay on the couch for an hour or so with my gorgeous Bella Cat, and fell asleep! I am calm and alert. It is a wonderful feeling.

Boomerang kids – whimsy and commonsense

https://workingmumdreaming.wordpress.com/2016/10/27/boomerang-kids

Thoughts, words, pictures, ideas and the workings of a curious mind. October 27, 2016. If I look in the mirror, I see my father. A cwymp head -check out the shadow! This last term (which I always thought was spelled Quimp! Refers to my ancestors, who lived at Cwymp Mill, somewhere in North Wales, and had a peculiarly shaped head, apparently. Quite bulbous at the back, or so I’m told. So it’s not all bad. I’m one of the sandwich generation. As sensible twentynearlythirtysomethings, we made a plan to marry...

sianob – whimsy and commonsense

https://workingmumdreaming.wordpress.com/author/sianob

Thoughts, words, pictures, ideas and the workings of a curious mind. Mother, wife, sister, friend, daughter. Nurse, musician, reader, thinker, observer. Old enough to know better, too old to care what they think! Armchair adventurer, dreamer, planner; pacifist, pacifier, peacemaker; Occasional aggressor and surprise attack tactician. It's complicated. March 13, 2017. No one would ever suspect this fifty something mother of two had obtained the pumpkin by alternative means! Number two gave me the pumpkin.

Repurposed | Spilt Milk

https://pguiler.wordpress.com/2015/08/12/repurposed

This is not my journal…usually. Some Days It Just Doesn’t Work…. I Write Like Who? August 12, 2015. An article by a fellow blogger today took me to my Pinterest site. And reminded me about much I love the idea of “ Repurposing. 8221; or “Upcycling”. In the 60’s repurposing had to do with being a poor student with no money for furniture but now it has to do with being trendy. (I’m sure the poor student thing could also still fit but IKEA has put orange crates out of business). After a recent trip through ...

I Write Like Who? | Spilt Milk

https://pguiler.wordpress.com/2015/08/13/i-write-like-who

This is not my journal…usually. My Sacred Place →. I Write Like Who? August 13, 2015. One blog leads to another it seems. I could spend the entire day reading other people’s blogs and visiting other blogs they have links to but one blogging journey today set me on the path of a writer I had never heard of and I concept I hadn’t given much thought, “who do I write like”. Returning to the “who do you write like” thought, I present to you, David Foster Wallace. If I could decide to write like someone who wo...

Who Am I Anyway | Spilt Milk

https://pguiler.wordpress.com/2015/08/10/who-am-i-anyway

This is not my journal…usually. Some Days It Just Doesn’t Work… →. Who Am I Anyway. August 10, 2015. In two separate assignments today I am exploring the “Who I Am” problem. For some of the more narcissistic folks like Donald Trump, it may not be an issue to explore the redeeming and endearing qualities of self but for me and others who hate writing resumes, it is a major chore. The Blogging 101 assignment is to improve my “About”. Program for Spiritual Direction. In my seeking for input for this course ...

I was a bit overwhelmed when I first started taking Blogging 101, with all the new bloggers I was expected to find but I’m getting the hang of finding them now and this one was a particularly fun find. This is not my journal…usually. Suicide – Consoling the Bereaved. Who Am I Anyway →. August 7, 2015. It’s day five of my “m. Aking a better blog” assignment and they suggested changing the theme (the way it looks) so I did and I even got brave and changed the name of the blog to “Spilt Milk”. Why Spilt Milk. It was strange. It just came to me while I was reading some information about changing site appearance. A flash! A voice from the past perhaps, or a voice from the future. My own response to spilled ...

https://pguiler.wordpress.com/2015/08/14/my-sacred-place

This is not my journal…usually. I Write Like Who? James Reviews Sudoku Themed Toilet Paper →. August 14, 2015. It is my hearts desire to grow strong enough in my self to not need a physical place to call “sanctuary”. That place of solitude is growing in my spirit every day but it is not big enough yet for me to disappear into. What makes a place sacred? Water is also something which, for me, adds depth and calm. It could be the soft falling rain like today’s, the rush of a water fall, the small...I have ...

Working Parents - Home

Welcome to "Working Parents" website. Thanks for heading to my site. Whether you are here on purpose, or found me by accident - it doesn't matter. You are here now, so why not take a few minutes and have a look around :). I'm a full time working mum with two kids and a husband, and quite often I would jump on line to find a place where other working parents were hanging out, discussing their trials and tribulations, if for no other reason than to know I'm not alone! So, here we are. Create a free website.
