Blocking | Knitting Yards
https://knittingyards.wordpress.com/blocking
Lifelines step by step. Now a days, socks are often blocked on special sock blockers. The blockers are shaped like flat socks, automatically forming the sock into the right shape while it dries. The only thing to watch out for is that the blocker can handle the moisture. There are a lot of very pretty wooden ones. Out there, but those are better used to display socks. I usually try to use round, cheap cord) or blocking wires. One method is to pin it to a mattress or carpet. Usually lace dries pretty ...

Russian Join | Knitting Yards
https://knittingyards.wordpress.com/russian-join
Lifelines step by step. In order to create a Russian Join, you need 2 ends of yarn, and a sharp needle. You really want a sharp needle, though with a big enough eye that the yarn will fit through. Cross the two ends like so:. Thread one end into the sharp needle. Then you thread the needle back through the same end of yarn for about 2 inches(5 cm). Don’t forget to make sure the second thread is inside the loop you create. Then you do the same with the other thread. Make sure you tighten both sides up.

Lifelines step by step. Lifelines step by step. As I mentioned in my September 17th post, All about Lifelines, lifelines are used frequently by some, shunned by others, and unknown to yet others. But a lifeline is really a good tool to have in your arsenal. What is a lifeline, and what is it’s purpose? The best place to insert a lifeline is when you are getting to a row that has few or no yarn overs and decreases. It just makes it easier when you have to go back and pick up the stitches. If it looks like...

Lifelines step by step. Laquo; I did it! November 29, 2014 by knittingyards. I realized that it has been a few weeks, but for good reason. My poor DS1 did not have a single sweater to put on when the weather turned cold over the last couple of weeks. What is a knitting mommy supposed to do? Knit him one of course! It has warmed up now, of course, but when it gets cold (Texas standards anyway…😉 ), he will have a sweater. The pattern is this aran sweater. A sneak peak of my next project? Enter your email ...

Lifelines step by step. Autumn is almost here. Just a little Dress. February 9, 2015 by knittingyards. A couple of months ago, I left you with a little teaser. Do you remember? The yarn and pattern was given to me by a dear friend. Now, being who I am, I hardly ever follow a pattern to the letter, especially if I appear to run into some challenges. What pattern you ask? It has a name that is a little hard to remember or pronounce. It is called UKHKA 73. On September 21, 2015 at 10:38 am. Enter your email...

Lifelines step by step. Laquo; Some Squares. November 4, 2014 by knittingyards. I do not blog very often about projects I crochet. I do however know how to do it, as some of you might remember from a post almost a year ago, where I showed you the Swan Doily. So, after a little study, I copied the topper, found a nice cotton towel and a gorgeous couple of buttons. Their kitchen is dark wood and black, so those were the colors I chose. And here is the result:. On November 7, 2014 at 11:56 pm. Join 245 othe...

Lifelines step by step. Laquo; Completely done. Just a little Dress. January 28, 2015 by knittingyards. About 3 or so years ago, I was asked about my blocking method. I started an explanation at that time, but between trying to figure out how to explain it clearly, and birthing 2 daughters (15 months apart) I sort of got side tracked. A comment I received today reminded me. I have attempted to finish it. It is listed as a separate page. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. And a few more.
