Add to that the fact that we had just come from the country and were a little bit intimidated by the thought of a big city and we decided that we would only stay in La Paz for 2 days. On Thursday, then, it was really time to say goodbye to the Cameron Highlands. We took an early bus back to Kuala Lumpur and 5 hours later I was still in denial. Adelaide, South Australia. The cities are made up of wide lanes more than anything else and sights are often not very close together. Public transport is a hassle and the streets are incredibly pedestrian-unfriendly. We saw some pretty old buildings. Calle Juan Carlos Gómez. Some pretty leafy plazas. And some pretty fancy statues. By the way: notice the wind in those palm trees. A hummingbird at the Nazca lines. We only stayed for 2 nights to go on a dune buggy ride. This dune buggy ride was so much fun! I kept thinking about my little brother, who would have loved this. Jochem also tried some sandboarding and I enjoyed the majesty of nature during sunset. Most of our time in Huacachina, though, was not spent on the sand dunes but at Casa de Bamboo, a quaint little family-run restaurant with good coffee, fresh food and kittens, away from our fellow backpackers.
