Writing Bout Reading: April 2013

http://writingboutreading.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 30, 2013. When I read the BookRiot request for new contributors the following statement caught my eye: “There are a few areas we are especially interested in right now: sci-fi/fantasy, Christian, self-published, romance, mysteries and thrillers, and young adult.”. I spent a lot of time thinking about essays I could write focusing on these genres. Forgotten thrillers that need a movie adaptation right now ( Vertical Run. How I learned to stop worrying and love The Hunger Games. And when I l...

Writing Bout Reading: January 2014

http://writingboutreading.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, January 30, 2014. The Quest for Silence. A recently published study. Notes that one of the things people value most about libraries are the quiet space they provide. Having a quiet safe space to read or just think was viewed as more important than research resources and internet access. It was only after reading this study that I really considered how much I too value quiet. Perhaps this love of quiet places explains my fascination with Jean Craighead George's My Side of the Mountain. This post...

Writing Bout Reading: October 2013

http://writingboutreading.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

Monday, October 28, 2013. One of my favorite reading sites, Book Riot. Has a new service. Where every quarter they mail you a box of bookish goodies. In their words: “The theme of our mailings is The Reading Life. Being a reader is about loving books, but it’s also about a lot more than books. Each of our boxes will contain an awesome book and a bunch of other bookish stuff we love, and that we think you’ll love too.”. My first thought was SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY! BJOD Press. 11 pgs. 8220;I’d rec...

Writing Books This Young

Saturday, September 4, 2010. I entered a writing competition a few weeks ago. I wrote about gymnastics because I love it! I also thought that the judges might be a bit more interested if it's about something that there are hardly any books about. You could write a poem or a short strory. It had to be 500 words or less. I wrote a bit more. If you come 1st, 2nd or 3rd you get your story or book published and it becomes a book or poem that everyone can read! I hope they liked mine! Saturday, July 17, 2010.
