Writing from Palestine

Reports from an American activist in the West Bank. Working in solidarity with Palestinians against the occupation. Thursday, November 30, 2006. I've arrived home by now. I'm not sure what to say to sum up this trip as a whole - maybe the words will come later when my head has cleared. I've had a very powerful, altering and rich experience and hope that I remember every detail always. This is God's land! Looking forward to is an olive harvest where internationals are not needed at all. Links to this post.

Writing from Palestine: Harvesting post-attack in Azmut

http://writingfrompalestine.blogspot.com/2006/11/harvesting-post-attack-in-azmut.html

Reports from an American activist in the West Bank. Working in solidarity with Palestinians against the occupation. Tuesday, November 07, 2006. Harvesting post-attack in Azmut. On Saturday, during a settler convention at the Elon Moreh settlement that overlooks Azmut and a few other Palestinian villages, about 25 settlers came down the hill to the groves and threw rocks at families and internationals who were harvesting. I was not there, but feel free to read the report. Pick olives for this reason.

Reports from an American activist in the West Bank. Working in solidarity with Palestinians against the occupation. Monday, November 06, 2006. Negotiating Daily Life: Land Access and Checkpoint Encounters. When we were told that we were cleared to go we informed the soldiers that we would stay with the 2 men who’s huwwiyas they had, until they were finished with them. They seemed surprised by this and immediately returned them to their owners, clearly not actually needing to check up on them.

Writing from Palestine: Olive harvest in Iraq Burin

http://writingfrompalestine.blogspot.com/2006/10/olive-harvest-in-iraq-burin.html

Reports from an American activist in the West Bank. Working in solidarity with Palestinians against the occupation. Tuesday, October 31, 2006. Olive harvest in Iraq Burin. Each time one of us climbed onto a thin or unsteady branch to reach the high-up olives, Abu Haytham told us to be careful in his own warm way, shouting Hospital strike! Joking that the hospitals may strike too, and if we injure ourselves we can’t get help. Posted by Steph at 11:04 PM. Links to this post:. View my complete profile.

02 March, 2009. Death of a non-comformist. He was famous for his unique (and hylarious) way of always speaking half in Spanish half in Catalan, continuously mixing both languages in every phrase, and also for his outrageous, politically motivated cursing in public, something that also drove snobbish right wing people crazy and got them to say that he was a "ghetto" (or our equivalent word in Catalan and Spanish), tastless and talentless character. Of snakes no matter whether venomous. Or not. Avoidance is the way we’re made. Although this truth may have eluded us. In ignorance we may have thought our fear. A lack of fortitude or a moral flaw.
