Loving My Creator: March 2012
http://elizena-lovingmycreator.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 29, 2012. Mom had asked me before we left if I was going to stay with him; as if that was such an easy decision to make. I just didn’t know what I was going to do. I missed his smile so much; it had been so long since I’d last seen his face light up with one of his all encompassing, here comes the sunshine, smiles or heard his laughter. I’d brought him here every year for the past four years. I don’t know what I expected; a miracle maybe? 8226; • • •. I heard a muffled giggle and a mascul...

Loving My Creator: September 2011

Monday, September 12, 2011. The Blue Sky Does Go On Forever. I love watching the sky as I drive along Route 98, maybe just a little bit too much. Seems I can’t drive and take pictures at the same time. I have to keep stopping whenever a pretty cloud catches my eye, or drive into one of those darned posts that seem to dot the Texas skyline, a little bit too frequently if you ask me. The person behind the cash register looked up and smiled brightly, “Welcome. I’m Earl! I lost myself in my meal. Every m...

Loving My Creator: My Peaceful Valley
http://elizena-lovingmycreator.blogspot.com/2013/04/my-peaceful-valley.html
Friday, April 26, 2013. Great-grandpa Antonio had bought 200 plus acres over a hundred years ago and had built his Simone a huge one-room shack right in the middle of it all. Over the year’s grandpa, mama and later papa had added rooms to it to accommodate our growing family and the original room had become the kitchen. 8221; Her response was always the same, “Baby, there is so much love here, that we can’t help but share our love with others and so we grow.”. Mama’s hard work on the house had give...

Z Words: Brush Strokes
http://zwords.blogspot.com/2014/06/brush-strokes.html
From zag to zymotic. Tuesday, June 17, 2014. I realize how much in awe I am of artists like Monet, Van Gogh and Seurat. Imagine painting a subject- and you are close enough to your canvas to use small brush strokes, and yet your subject comes alive with light and dark and shape and line, and we see it as a complete work. That's what it's like sometimes to write a long work- or even a short one. You concentrate on the small brush strokes that you hope lead to the big story, the big picture.

Loving My Creator: January 2016
http://elizena-lovingmycreator.blogspot.com/2016_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 12, 2016. I was nine years old when we moved to the Chicago area. We were originally from a very small town in Texas where winters were always extremely mild. My daddy really thought that we could handle an Illinois winter…I still laugh when I think about it. 8220;Chato, what are we going to do about Christmas for the niños? 8221; momma asked. 8220;I don’t know, Prieta. I paid the rent on this house and to get all the utilities turned on; there isn’t anything leftover....8220;Mi amor,...

Wednesday, August 15, 2012. The Fairies Did It! The ice cream disappeared, as if by magic. Everyone turned to look at me and fingers began to point. 8220;There she is, the ice cream thief! 8221; my little brother shouted. “I just bought that gallon of Moose Tracks. It’s my favorite and I didn’t get any at all.”. There are eight of us in this house and I’m the one that gets accused? All I eat is French Vanilla! He stood in front of me and demanded, “Open your mouth! 8221; he shouted. Standing outside my b...
