Sunday, 31 May 2009. Thrilled, but what now? Sunday, 24 May 2009. Hmm I'm really really happy that I finally know the answer to the question I've been wondering about for a really long time. The new question is what to do now. Saturday, 23 May 2009. So after the my usual dose of karaoke, I was taken to this clothes store previously unknown where they had nice clothes for not so bad prices. I got this pair of shoes for 2000 yen (roughly $20). bargain! Sunday, 17 May 2009. Sunday, 10 May 2009. There were s...

Tuesday, 23 December 2008. It’s ridiculously warm now, not that I’m complaining, but it’s seriously unusual. It’s been around 0-2 degrees in the morning, but today it was around 12 degrees or something. My school had its closing ceremony today, which means I have a lot of free time and therefore can afford to write this entry in school. Sadly enough, I haven’t posted since I first arrived in. And am only posting now when I’m about to leave. I really hope to get back to blogging in the next few months.

Chicken, Bacon and Spinach Cream Sauce. Saturday, 17 October 2009. I don't usually cook Italian food, but I was invited to a party where we all had to bring something Italian or at least Italian-inspired. Originally I was th. A sort of stew that I saw in an Italian cookbook back home in Australia, but something creamy was in demand. So I decided to try my luck at making a cream based pasta sauce. 1/4 kilo sliced chicken (breast o. 1/2 cup parmesan cheese. 1 bunch spinach (boiled until mashy). So even if ...

http://nickcripps.blogspot.com/2010/02/reaching-milestone-in-japanese-language.html
Reaching a Milestone in Japanese Language Learning. Thursday, 4 February 2010. After almost 10 years of studying Japanese. I finally passed Level 1 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. However, this really is only just the beginning. Then again I could probably take a course in translation or interpretation, but I'm not sure there are many jobs available in that field. The ultimate dream job would be a teaching job at a university, but a PhD takes too long to get. That was a real close call. View m...

Dokdo 독도 (獨島) or Takeshima 竹島 (English)? Wednesday, 26 May 2010. Recently I've found myself really interested in the history of the Liancourt Rocks. The Liancourt Rocks are a small group of islands more or less halfway between South Korea and Japan. The Liancourt Rocks are named after a French ship named Le Liancourt. I have read this blog. 죽도 in Korean and takeshima. たけしま in Japanese. So in this instance it's unclear whether the takeshima. Or to a completely different island called jukdo. The only concl...

Peruvian Cuisine - Lomo Saltado. Saturday, 27 June 2009. This Saturday instead of having the regular Japanese classes at the local city hall branch, the Peruvians decided to teach us how to cook a traditional dish called Lomo Soltado. It's basically beef stir-fried with tomatoes, onions and fried potatoes, seasoned with salt, pepper, vinegar and chillies. Today's food was a good break from the usual Japanese fare which is practically the only thing available in this city. Sunday, 21 June 2009. And other ...

Going Home for a while! Saturday, 25 July 2009. It's the end of the semester and I can finally go back to the land down under. It's almost been a year, and I can't believe I actually miss Australia. I'm looking forward the food, friends and my two cousins who are visiting. I'm also looking forward to getting up late for a change. A Great Way to End a Semester of Japanese *ahem* Lessons. Saturday, 11 July 2009. It was great seriously. Here is a video. Thursday, 9 July 2009. I started making this list of t...

Online Resources for Learning Korean. Friday, 23 April 2010. I promised YouTuber Felix (username loki2504) a video on some of the resources I use to study Korean, but I decided to make a blog entry first. Wish List for 2010. Thursday, 31 December 2009. Hmm I don't think 2009 was that eventful, except for that one special week that I spent with that special someone late August. I also got the swine flu during the 1st week of December, which was totally not a big deal. So instead of dwelling in the past, I'm going to write about some of the things I want for next year. That piece of paper saying that I have attained Level 1 of the JLPT. A job in Shanghai, China sometime in July or August. World Youth Day (1).
