A Bravura of the Mind. Monthly Archives: November 2009. Armani, Nike, Starbucks, Apple. November 24, 2009. Cintra Wilson’s review of Armani’s new flagship store last week had some interesting statistics. 14,000 in revenue in 1975. 100 million in 1985. Reflections upon this topic have prompted a poem:. Ain’t Marshall Plan-y. Recent Stuff By Me. 18th Century Reading Room. Beinecke Library Room 26. The Bowery Boys NYC History. Gret Stet of Louisiana, Now Literally About to Slither. A Bravura of the Mind. Monthly Archives: January 2009. Mental Nourishment Keeps Its Currency: Mallarme on a Publishing Crisis. January 22, 2009. This currently relevant and hilarious passage may be found in Barbara Johnson’s 2007 translation of Divagations. Lincoln and Literature Too. January 11, 2009. 8220;The Slavocrat’s giant he slew! 8221; (That’s a line from the 1860 campaign tune “Lincoln and Liberty Too”…improbably referenced by Joyce in “Finnegans Wake.”). How perfect is that? Recent Stuff By Me.

A Bravura of the Mind. Monthly Archives: March 2010. Thoughts on Rosson Crow and Michael Kimmelman’s take on Shea. March 14, 2010. I checked out Rosson Crow’s show. Yesterday. It was my first in-person viewing of her work. (My favorite painting by her, New York Stock Exchange After Bond Rally, 1919. I agree with most of Michael Kimmelman’s superb analysis in At the Bad New Ballparks, but I was surprised by his declaration that he found the giant neon baseball players. But the figures made driving past Sh...

A Bravura of the Mind. Monthly Archives: September 2008. All Eyes on Congress. September 25, 2008. BTW, if Venezuela or Russia (or…Brazil or Bolivia or Canada or Poland) were about to nationalize this much debt, the screeching and the wimpering and the hand wringing about “the return of Communism” coming out of all corners of the US would be unbearable. Chuck Hagel Slams Palin. September 18, 2008. Chuck Hagel, Great American, told this to the Omaha World-Herald. Hagel scoffed at that notion. Actually, I ...
