18th Century Sojourn

Zaterdag 9 mei 2015. Approaching the halfway mark. I have made quick progress painting the cuirassiers, skirmishers and hussars. When done, these will be split into two commands to fill out the French and Imperial forces. As the selection of uniforms by nations was still beginning to become the convention, I used a tried and true technique used for painting barbarians; the rank and file system. The basic colour scheme for each cuirassier element was now slightly different. Links to this post. With an und...

18th Century Sojourn: 6. Reichenberg, Bohemia 1757

http://18thcenturysojourn.blogspot.com/2015/07/6-reichenberg-bohemia-1757.html

Zaterdag 25 juli 2015. 6 Reichenberg, Bohemia 1757. The Battle at Reichenberg marked the start of Fredrick’s Bohemian Campaign of 1757. The campaign was unique in that it featured a four pronged attack spread across a front of 200 miles traversing the mountain ranges bordering Bohemia. Now, with the revised DBA-HX to 3.0 the Battle of Reichenberg can be played with every unit present on a properly scaled battlefield. FZM Christian Moritz Count Königsegg und Rothenfels. http://cavenderia.blogspot.com/2010/02/painting-anything-that-moves.html

A blog about my fictional Seven Years' War army. Enemy of the Deylicate of Bizerrca. Monday, February 15, 2010. Painting anything that moves. I have been painting quite a bit lately. Just wanted to share a few pics of what I have been up to. To the left is IR-Owens of Cavenderia. My friend David did a nice write-up on the history of the unit in a previous post. The figures are Old Glory 15mm and I will need to finish the bases soon. Side view just realized I need to finish the horse. 15mm Egyptian Fellah...

Glory Eagles de l'Empereur! A general wargaming blog. Laquo; [Misc] The State of the Lemming. Sword and Spear] Yet Another Hundred Years War AAR. Bluecher early start part 2: More French Infantry. January 10, 2015 by nickthelemming. Another four brigades of French infantry. As before, they haven’t had their basing treatments done yet – I’m waiting till I get them all painted and glued to bases before I do that, to ensure they look the same after I get them done. First Corps, 3rd Division, 1st Brigade.

Glory Eagles de l'Empereur! A general wargaming blog. February 8, 2015 by nickthelemming. Sam Mustafa’s new game, is out now, and after a short test game, I thought I’d give my opinion of these grand scale Napoleonic rules. First of all, some background: I first bought Sam’s. Not too long after it came out, and was suitably impressed; so much so that when he released. I bought it on the day of release, sight unseen, and have done so for. Too (as well as belatedly buying. CAVENDERIA: Taxis Cuirassier

http://cavenderia.blogspot.com/2010/01/taxis-cuirassier.html

A blog about my fictional Seven Years' War army. Enemy of the Deylicate of Bizerrca. Tuesday, January 5, 2010. So long story short, I painted up a battalion headed to the convention and watched my battalion get wiped out on turn 2 by "those dreaded black hussars". I immediately vowed that next years unit must be some cavalry to protect my precious battalion. I am still crap at painting red, but I probably always will be. I paint gray in the areas for the red first, this makes the red brighter but I h...

Lead Gardens: Classic Wargames Building Tutorial

http://littlejohnslead.blogspot.com/2011/01/classic-wargames-building-tutorial.html

Sunday, January 30, 2011. Classic Wargames Building Tutorial. So for this post I thought it might be a nice break from AARs to post some basic ideas for producing "classic" wargaming buildings in short order with a minimum of headaches and a maximum of fun! OK so here goes:. First, the base is cut from a 1/8" masonite (mdf) scrap that I had laying around. (my wife calls me a hoarder, but I think it's just a wargamer habit to be alert to that "hey I can use that". Next we glue all the sides together.(...

La mode au 18ème siècle

Skip to main content.

Mr Green's Country Dance Tunes. Being a delightful collection of recently rediscovered 18th century popular melodies. Tunes by time signature. Welcome to my online collection of English country dance tunes! I’ve indexed the tunes alphabetically and by time signature as I don’t necessarily feel that labels like ‘slip jig’, ‘hornpipe’ and ‘polka’ are helpful to the uninitiated (not to mention ‘maggot’, ‘paspy’ and ‘joak’! I hope you find the site fairly easy to navigate on that basis.
