There's something about crisp mountain air. I was pretty close to done and planning a late afternoon hike when I saw my wife pop up on Skype! View of the mountains from my room. Unfortunately the light was already too low on the horizon and was not able to penetrate the dense woods, so I wasn't rewarded with any spectacular photos and decided to just use some quiet time and observe the beautiful cascading water. I'll definitely go back in the afternoon sun for some photos soon. Madona Pezie' de Paru.

I bid the Dolomites a fond arrivederci. Yes I brought my walking stick on the train. What if the chicken showed up? I've learned not to judge a town by its train station, as most of them are visually unappealing. There are usually hidden gems to be found just outside the doors. This is NOT the case in La Spezia! Rained out in the beautiful Cinque Terre. Riomaggiore in the Cinque Terre. Waking up early on this day was NO PROBLEM for me! After all, the sooner I wake, the sooner I leave La Spezia! It was coming down pretty hard that morning, but that didn't stop me from mad-dashing through the rain to the train station about 300 meters away. I was well rested, but still had some logistics to sort out. I've had a good night's sleep, but knew I had to get up early. The tourist information booth that helps travelers find hotel rooms opens at 9am and I wanted to be there. I still had to sort out the rest of my stay, seeing as how I needed an address to which the airlines could deliver my bags. Turns out, the island is very booked!
