A blog about crafts food creativity. Sewing : modified glass onion top. Lately my favorite way to spend free time has been sewing. I love making things for our 3.5-year-old to wear, especially when she picks out a particular fabric that she likes at the fabric store. She has this tendency to obsess over something once she realizes that she likes it, and lately this had been demonstrated by her discovery of Strawberry Shortcake. Not the cute, little, frumpy hat version you. Why, the Glass Onion Top. And l...

A blog about crafts food creativity. I have always loved to eat, cook and bake, so I was crushed when I found out about my food allergies in 2006. Avoiding eating certain things for the sake of staying alive means I can no longer enjoy some of my old favorite dishes. But! That doesn’t mean I have to stop making them for the people I love, right? Banana (I’m also allergic to latex). Fennel (it’s almost like celery). Kiwi (again, related to the latex allergy). Flakes as a garnish. Tomatoes are another ...

A blog about crafts food creativity. Toddler crafting : headbands. Today’s craft activity was decorating headbands. (In case you couldn’t guess, all three friends are girls.) Our friend bought these 1″ wide headbands that are wrapped in grosgrain ribbon from Amazon. To attach the rhinestones and felt to the headbands. My daughter, who normally dislikes anything on top of her head, actually wore a headband afterward and in the car on the way home! Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). January 21, 2015.

A blog about crafts food creativity. It’s a nice place with a lot of seating, and not too fancy where I didn’t feel uncomfortable bringing a toddler. They have a nice selection of draught beers, cocktails (the yuzu gimlet was very tempting! But I went for a glass of Moscato), and wines. To start, we ordered some edamame. And fried pork gyoza. My husband ordered the Tiger’s Eye sushi roll which had cucumber, avocado, salmon, and tobiko with seared scallop on the outside and topped with sriracha sauce.

A blog about crafts food creativity. Card making : heart outline card. Here is a simple card design that can be put together in minutes using pretty patterned paper, a dab of paint, and Q-tips. But here is a way you can use one sheet to create two different cards. Tutorials start with cardstock as a base. You are co...
