Art with Mrs. King

Saturday, November 22, 2014. I was asked to create a Fall art project for my son's Fall Party. I needed to keep the project under 30 minutes. I prepped a lot for this to speed up the project. I liked it so much that I had my students do this also. I created another art project similar to this. You can see here. I used many of the same elements minus the sewing (yarn). Create ears (even though owls ears only consist of holes). Then students traced circles and cut out the eyes and pupils. This art project ...

Friday, September 28, 2012. Contour Plant Drawing with DESIGNS and PATTERNS. Wednesday, September 19, 2012. The students really enjoyed using all of the fun materials. First I had students paint the background paper (9x24) using blue watercolors and the rubbing alcohol technique. This technique is used by applying rubbing alcohol to the wet paint using a dropper. The students designed their birdhouse on the backside of the scrapbook paper. Last but not least our cotton balls for clouds. Subscribe to: Pos...

Sunday, March 24, 2013. Birds and Birch Trees. I am sure many of you have seen this art project on the web at Deep Space Sparkle. I offered students the option to trace the birds or create their own. I created tracers for the birds in the handout below. March 27, 2013 at 7:15 PM. I did this lesson with my class, too. What brand of construction paper are you using? So much brighter than mine! April 1, 2013 at 4:57 AM. I use tru-ray. I really like that brand. Du fil et mon. December 22, 2014 at 1:58 AM.

All Things Art: December 2012

http://emackinney.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

Welcome, and thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy your visit. Monday, December 31, 2012. Ringing in the New Year (or drawing it in? This is my last finished project for 2012. All told, I completed around 22 pieces, which isn't so bad considering I had to squeeze them in here and there around a full-time schedule. You can tell that the original photo was taken with a flash, which I encourage people to avoid if at all possible. In this case we couldn't get around it. Posted by Beth MacKinney. Of course...

Welcome, and thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy your visit. Saturday, March 16, 2013. You have to understand that, primarily, I'm not a 3D kind of person when it comes to art. This isn't to say I don't enjoy 3D art. It just means that I don't do much of it myself, preferring to paint or draw. So wire sculpture, which I had never done before, was entirely new. But still, I thought, how hard could it possible be? Dolphin jumping above ocean (sun not visible yet) in progress. I'll try to get the rest ...

All Things Art: Stepping back

Welcome, and thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy your visit. Wednesday, July 31, 2013. I think I enjoy portraits because the human face is so amazing in it's range of expression. Here's my latest project, which I was working on today. While I'm working, I sometimes lose touch with the portrait as a whole, but in order to take this progression photo, I had to step back. I immediately noticed problems, which I'll have to correct tomorrow. Can you see them, too? Posted by Beth MacKinney. Just a few pals.

Welcome, and thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy your visit. Saturday, August 24, 2013. Do it yourself stencils for face painting. I have to admit it. I'm kind of a do-it-yourself person when it comes to most things. Possibly that came from having frugal parents, who were also do-it-yourselfers.
