Rev. Skid's Blog: Walking In The Spiderwebs
http://revskid.blogspot.com/2013/08/walking-in-spiderwebs.html
Spiritual snacks for your week. Friday, August 16, 2013. Walking In The Spiderwebs. I've always been one to call "bullshit" when someone instantly responds with, "Well, it happened for a reason." That tripe even comes in different flavors: "God has a plan," "You're never given more than you can handle," When there's an obstacle there's always a way," "Just wait, something better is coming along.". What if God is present in everything, every person, every situation? Hing occurs outside of God's perception...

Spiritual snacks for your week. Saturday, January 28, 2012. Well, I've been at Northside for two years! Favorite things in the last two years:. Our 2011 Easter Celebration - tympanis, brass, bells, choir, packed out church, all praising God for Jesus' resurrection. Trey's baptism (and the hospitality of the White Oak Baptist congregation to let us use their pool). Journeys of Paul wine tasting. Our annual church retreat. Our new bulletin (although, I guess it's not so new now). Cozy Christmas this year.

Spiritual snacks for your week. Tuesday, November 22, 2011. Damnable and pestilent heresies". For Advent this year we are going to use an adaptation from the Scot's Confession (A.D. 1560) for the 'Affirmation of Faith' in worship. Here is my adaptation, and below that is the original. The title of this blog post is the best phrase that didn't make the cut. Enjoy some good Presbyterian theology this Advent season! John Knox: He wrote the original. And could beat me up. The Incarnation of Christ Jesus.

Rev. Skid's Blog: April 2012
http://revskid.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Spiritual snacks for your week. Wednesday, April 11, 2012. Well, it's the week after Easter. We sat with Jesus and had dinner on Thursday. We walked with him to his death on Friday at Coolidge Park. On Sunday we awoke early and visited the empty tomb at the Duck Pond. We celebrated Christ's resurrection with songs and prayers and words of Scripture at church later that day. As I'm reflecting on it, in the aftermath of Holy Week, I can't help but wonder: What's changed? Is that the way it is every Monday?

Spiritual snacks for your week. Tuesday, July 31, 2012. Evangelism Conference pt. 1. I'm not sure if there will be a part 2, but I did want to post some of the highlights so far. Our preacher yesterday was Mark Yaconelli, who was simply amazing. He framed the practice of being a Christian as the practice of loving relationship.' Within that, our job is not. Big picture.it's small picture, very small. As in, love your neighbor. Not every neighbor, just the one right next to you. Wednesday, July 25, 2012.

Spiritual snacks for your week. Tuesday, December 20, 2011. Mary and Joe's Trip South. Erica asked me earlier today how long it took Mary and Joseph to reach Bethlehem. So I looked it up. It's somewhere around 100 miles, meaning you or I could drive it (roadblocks not withstanding) in a couple of hours. However, Mary and Joe didn't have a car and probably hitched a ride on a caravan. Caravans, like wagon trains. Why did Mary and Joe have to head to Bethlehem for the census? Saturday, December 17, 2011.

Spiritual snacks for your week. Friday, February 22, 2013. From last week's sermon. With all due apologies to the Charlie Daniels Band. THE DEVIL WENT DOWN TO NOOGA. The Devil went down to Nooga, he was looking for some souls to steal. He'd grown fat and eager, hocking the American dream as a happy meal. When he came across a congregation sittin' in rows of pews like this,. The Devil smiled a big ol grin and gave an evil hiss:. I'll bet you didn't know it, but I'm a red-blooded American, too. Cause we do...
