Adventures in Aswan

Monday, June 22, 2009. Another plane, another airport, another city. After less than two weeks sleeping in my own bed I'm on the road again.  I will start by saying that I love the Vancouver airport, if only for the FREE wireless.  Seriously everywhere else they want you to pay an arm and a leg.  Okay so maybe not everywhere but I've been enough airports in the last few months that I feel okay stereotyping. Adventures in Aswan: A small diversion

http://adventuresinaswan.blogspot.com/2009/04/small-diversion.html

Monday, April 27, 2009. I've been MIA for over a week, but for good reason.I spent the last week in Jordan! Then it was back to Amman where a few of Matt and Robyn's friends came over had we had some amazing lamb for Easter dinner. That's all for now, I'll be on my way back to Aswan this evening and back to the office tomorrow for the start of what's looking like a busy last month in Egypt. That sounds like a very fun diversion steph! Can't wait to see you! April 29, 2009 at 12:40 PM. 20 016 534 2183.

Adventures in Aswan: December 2008

http://adventuresinaswan.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

Sunday, December 14, 2008. Another few weeks have passed so I figure it’s time for another update on goings on here in Egypt. Since my last post I’ve had a visit from my grandparents, made a little progress on my work here, and had a week holiday as most of the country celebrates the Eid el-Adha, the holiday on the Muslim calendar that is equal in significance to Christmas. Me in the desert. Emily on top of the Shali ruins. Brianna and I in a very cold spring. Even the donkeys get to relax in Siwa.

Adventures in Aswan: Symbols of Egypt

http://adventuresinaswan.blogspot.com/2009/05/symbols-of-egypt.html

Tuesday, May 19, 2009. That being said my friend Emily lives in downtown Cairo across from a massive rundown and abandoned house.  Sitting on the balcony having a drink before dinner we decided it needed to be explored.  All it took was 10 LE and a smile and we were in.  . There was supposed to be pictures with this post but I'm in Egypt.enough said so if you want to see what I'm talking about check it out here. May 20, 2009 at 7:47 AM. Adventures in Aswan: May 2009

http://adventuresinaswan.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

Tuesday, May 26, 2009. A post with no name. I did find this today though.  Someone gave it to me more than 10 years ago when the life of a 13 year old felt complicated.  Turns out 24 isn't that much different, the lessons just appear differently. After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul. And you learn that love doesn't mean security. And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts. And presents aren't promises. And you learn that you really can endure.

Adventures in Aswan: Random happenings from the last week...

http://adventuresinaswan.blogspot.com/2009/03/random-happenings-from-last-week.html

Monday, March 30, 2009. Random happenings from the last week. So nothing terribly exciting has happened in the past week, but since some of you out there get impatient when I wait to long between posts here are some random happenings from the past week. Is a question I'd like never to hear from older than 5 years old, more than once in a day. Are you running at the hotel or are you creating an unsual spectical on the street? Your update was great - too bad about the baby bird. March 30, 2009 at 6:19 PM.

Sesame... What?!?!: July 2008

http://sesamewhat.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, July 22, 2008. Sesame is thought to be one of the oldest spices known to man and is likely the first crop grown for its edible oil. Babylonians used the oil to make sesame cakes, wine, brandy, and toiletries. From as early as 1500 B.C, Egyptians believed sesame to have medicinal powers. What’s more, the famous phrase "Open Sesame". Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Sesame... What?!?!: September 2008

http://sesamewhat.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Monday, September 15, 2008. Finding the Beauty of Nicaragua. What a difference a week can make! I've found my new calling! Cattle herding within city limits and horse drawn wagons. but I just wasn't falling for it. When people asked me what I thought of Nicaragua, I would tell them that I liked it. and to be honest, I had nothing substantial to like! I really can't wait until I actually get to go out to do field research. I'm really looking forward to it! Monday, September 8, 2008. Saturday, Lauren and I...

Sesame... What?!?!: October 2008

http://sesamewhat.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, October 19, 2008. The Adventure I was waiting for? Now that I have officially settled in, the high life of taking taxis everywhere, had to end. In comparison to Canadian taxi prices, or even Canadian transit costs, taking a taxi was less. However, taking local transit is even cheaper! I was prepared for long waits. I was prepared for getting lost. Both seemed pretty guaranteed. I was unsure about what else I would encounter, but was prepared to go with the flow. Each new adventure makes me more g...

Produce Rocks My Socks. Sunday, March 08, 2009. The Prettiest Story Ever. This is a story that began in November, but ended just recently. NUBIA: Go over there and pretend to interview that cow! LAUREN: Okay. (Thinking: This cow is huge and holy crap could he hurt me if he wanted to). The dress and procession! After the church ceremony was finished, the procession left the church and walked around town while on lookers clapped. Eventually we ended up at their house where a DJ had set up (of course!

Welcome To My Blog. After ten years of hustle and bustle in Los Angeles, I have come to the quaint little town of Astoria, Oregon in search of some tranquility and self-exploration. It was filled to the brim, to the max, no Vacancy, packed like sardines, no Dogs Allowed (or Birds)! Alright, that last one was taken from one of my favorite Snoopy movies, but you get the drift.
