How my savings landed me my dream job. February 26, 2014 · 8:19 am. Financial Lessons from Brooklyn Nine-Nine. When Brooklyn Nine-Nine won not one, but two Golden Globes this year. Many people were surprised. How did this Andy Samberg-led comedy, still in its inaugural season, win over the likes of Modern Family and Parks and Recreation? The answer is puppies. And excellent financial advice. 1 Stop burying your head in the sand. 2 Stop spending your money on STUFF. No more stuff you don’t need. Gina̵...

Newer posts →. February 4, 2013 · 7:00 am. I had January goals – they were just secret, that’s all. You know how sometimes you set a goal for yourself, tell everyone about it, and then fail miserably and have to tell everyone how you were on the front seat of the fail bus all the way to Failtown? Yeah That’s why I didn’t post about my January goal. I mentioned in December that I was going to try and control my Christmas spending and actually hoard money throughout the Christmas season! I feel like the wo...

Whoops, forgot about a goal. Or two. Financial Lessons from Brooklyn Nine-Nine →. November 25, 2013 · 7:30 am. How my savings landed me my dream job. In July, I decided to take a huge risk. I left my unionized, secure position in health care to work at a digital marketing startup here in Edmonton by the name of Kick Point. Over the past year, I’ve been having the career-crisis that many in our age group are familiar with: what am I going to do for the rest of my life? What does my career path look like?

Four years to financial freedom: September 2011
http://fouryearstogo.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Four years to financial freedom. Friday, September 30, 2011. Numbers are finally up! Oh my gosh. I feel like crying :(. I tend to freak out about our debt but I won't freak out this morning. I will stay focused and try to chip away at this debt one dollar at a time. This morning I feel like I need to write down the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. DH is worked the day shift this week and was home in the evenings which was really nice. We managed to not go out to eat or pick up fast food for supper. I sold T's...

Four years to financial freedom. Wednesday, May 9, 2012. And this time I'm going to be smart about it. What does that mean exactly? I finally looked at the numbers and they don't look good. A total of $92.91 is deducted is deducted from each payday (semi-monthly), which equals $2229.84 a year! For benefits. that I probably don't even use! How ridiculous is that! I realize now the poor choices that I made and am looking forward to bringing and eating a packed lunch. As we ate at the restaurant and food co...

Four years to financial freedom. Wednesday, November 30, 2011. In my current job. Before I start off my post, I just wanted to tell you all about a great giveaway ($50 Amazon or Pay Pal Gift Card) over at ThirtySixMonths (http:/ thirtysixmonths.com/2011/11/27/giveaway-50-paypal-or-amazon-gift-card). Don't forget to enter! 50 could definitely help with any Christmas-related expenses or to splurge a little on yourself. So it was a great way to end the day and to follow up with Friday's not-so-great news.

Four years to financial freedom. Thursday, July 28, 2011. Stressful start to the long weekend. This weekend is a long weekend for us. It's also my daughter's 4th birthday (tomorrow) and we're throwing her a birthday party at the park on Sunday. I know that I will be spending money on decorations, cake and food. And even that extra spending is a little stressful, as I just started on this journey to financial freedom and am not being as aggressive as I'd like to be. Wednesday, July 27, 2011. Tomorrow I wi...
Four years to financial freedom: October 2011
http://fouryearstogo.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Four years to financial freedom. Sunday, October 30, 2011. I am lucky to have been selected to participate in the Leadership Development Program offered by my employer. Interested applicants were required to write a letter indicating their interest in the program, and then selected applicants were interview by a panel. I hadn’t attend the information session on the program, but heard about it through co-workers and thought I’d go ahead and give it a try. It’s a daily ritual almost. A group of 4 guys and ...

Four years to financial freedom. Monday, July 23, 2012. Hopefully I can get back into blogging on a regular basis. Then there's still the endless birthday parties, wedding socials and baby showers that need to be attended and gifts purchased for. Throw on top of that the landscaping the DH wants to do this summer and the budget is out the window. The numbers need to be updated, and I need a plan. Things just can't continue at the same pace, else we'll never get to that end goal of financial freedom.

Four years to financial freedom. Tuesday, May 22, 2012. Time to press the reset button. Okay, life has definitely kept me busy. And I feel like I'm lost control of my healthy eating and my spending. Not that I've been spending alot of money lately, but it seems to go hand in hand. When I don't plan appropriately, and I don't pack a healthy lunch, I end up spending money and buying a not-so-healthy lunch. Not really but I know that I made a small dent and I'm glad for that. Four years to financial freedom. Monday, March 26, 2012. Didn't a chance to participate in Carla's Sunday Night Chit Chat. Yesterday, so I'm doing a Monday morning chit chat. Trying to upload a picture. having issues though. if it worked, you'd see a amazing delicious looking slice of red velvet cake, with a generous amount of cream cheese frosting. I'm at work right now so watching the letters as I type them out on the screen. Last night, there wasn't much tv watching either. Thankful that there's money...

When I was a little girl, I would pick weeds, (I thought they were flowers), all clinched in my fist, I would give them to my mother, in a vase the little weeds would live, until. It made me feel good inside. As an adult, I still pick weeds, by picking ugly or castoff item's and creating something nice and useful. It still makes me feel good inside. I have always considered myself to be a creative person, and I LOVE to scavage thrift stores, junk stores and Goodwill looking to fulfill that obsession!
