It fits well, it's tight enough to look good but it doesn't restrain movement, in fact I didn't feel it at all which may be due to its extremely light weight. The first MTB race is just around the corner, so up to now I've been focussing on some early season road racing to get some race sharpness in the legs - and there's nothing like a good road race for some AC training. Ras Naomh Finian, Clonard. The race was remarkable only for the fact that it was cold, wet and windy. And there was snow! St Patrick's Day race, Dunboyne. Tuesday, July 10, 2012. This might be a bit long.). Anyone hear the breaking news that 1000 cyclists were treated for trenchfoot in Plymouth over the weekend? Well, not really, but unfortunately not far from the truth. This was the second year that Agata and I made the trip to Plymouth for the Bontrager Twentyfour12. Endurance race, to compete in the 12hr mixed pairs category. Last year. Beyond our expectations we took 2nd place in that category so we return this year in the hope of going one better.

As Nationals is on the horizon and the last race in Ireland almost a month previous, I had planned to make a trip over to the UK to regain some race sharpness. Tuesday, May 11, 2010. My first road race of the year, part of the Stamullen weekend, and the hilliest of the three races. The course was quite rolling with one big climb in the middle, which I hoped I could do something on. Big enough A4 bunch, but everything was very well marshalled and policed and not much in the way of crazy riding going on. Really enjoyed the race, nice to be riding in a bunch at high speed again and the constant attacking and suffering was good fun, but importantly, good training.

Monday, June 22, 2009. With the exams finally over (just found out today, I scored a 2.1) it was time to think about having some fun - preferably outdoors. So with exactly 1 week of training in the legs, the obvious thing to do is enter a 5 hour race with the fastest female mountainbiker. In Ireland, clearly. Is a single-day adventure race set in the beautiful Mourne Mountains, comprising about 40km of biking and 12km of running, with a short paddle thrown in at the end to break tired minds and bodies.

A few words on mountainbiking. Wednesday, 27 August 2014. World Cup singletrack - Meribel, France. The most interesting parts of the courses are rarely accessed by photographers or the camera men so we thought we'd take a few shots of dirt "to remember it by" ;). As always, the camera flattens the course disappointingly, steep drops look tiny, sketchy rock gardens look flat and the roots grippy, so please use your imagination and add a few percent of gradient to what you see here ;).
