A hockey dad's story

A hockey dad's story. Friday, February 20, 2009. The “dead” of winter. This is a difficult part of the season- It’s the “dead” of winter and really cold outside, the boys are playing school hockey as well as “rep” hockey, the scheduler is paying us back for the tournaments that we have played by giving us busy schedules and the cream seems to be rising to the top of the standings. And this gets to the question of, “What do we do next year? I was talking with one of HP’s coaches recently and he was ...

A hockey dad's story: Hunting for the elusive W

http://ahockeydadstory.blogspot.com/2008/09/hunting-for-elusive-w.html

A hockey dad's story. Tuesday, September 30, 2008. Hunting for the elusive W. It is always nice to get that first win out of the way. It is even better when it comes against the old team that you really didn’t like, and were more then happy to leave, and Hockey Player scores his first goal of the season. I was really quite nervous before the game. To make it worse I didn’t get HP to the rink in time for the team warm up because of a screw up on my part about when the game was supposed to start. Friends, ...

A hockey dad's story: March 2008

http://ahockeydadstory.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

A hockey dad's story. Monday, March 10, 2008. Down down into a burnin' ring of fire. Just the old Johnny Cash song, Hockey Player's team is going down! We are the only team without a win in the "Tournament of Loosers". You might almost say that we are the #1 looser in the Tournament of Loosers. Oh well. Just a couple of more games and then a practice or two and then try outs. Friday, March 7, 2008. An example of when the world is not bright was on the weekend in our first“Clancy” game. I came away from t...

A hockey dad's story: Another "good effort"

http://ahockeydadstory.blogspot.com/2008/09/another-good-effort.html

A hockey dad's story. Friday, September 26, 2008. Another game, another good effort and another loss. The coaches, while happy with the effort level generally, are starting to hint that bottoms are going to be stuck to the bench if the game plan is not adhered to with a little bit more enthusiasm. Hockey Player has a 2-hour practice tomorrow afternoon, a game against one of his former teams on Sunday and another practice on Monday. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A hockey dad's story: Halfway point

http://ahockeydadstory.blogspot.com/2008/12/halfway-point.html

A hockey dad's story. Wednesday, December 10, 2008. The regular season is now half over. Hockey player’s team has now played 18 games and are the owners of a 7-11-0 won, loss record. They are currently in 8th place, 3 points back of the 7th place team with a game in hand. And one of the games that HP’s team plays this weekend is against the 7th place team! His points total this year is 7 goals and 3 assists for 10 points. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I am a hockey dad trying to find the best place...

A hockey dad's story: May 2008

http://ahockeydadstory.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

A hockey dad's story. Thursday, May 15, 2008. King for a Season. Now I have chance to update the blog on what happened to Hockey Player. We did go the AA tryout and Hockey Player wasn’t a step or two behind the other players, he was a good 4 or 5 steps behind. All of the kids there could really skate and they could all shoot the puck. Needless to say, he wasn’t asked back. But this also assumes that there is a shortage of talent out there and you have to take whatever comes along and one of the things th...

A hockey coach's corner of the world. You were a good man today….but tomorrow is another day. Negative Thoughts the Sequel. But on balance it went really well. And then the CEO showed up. And you know what happened, NOTHING. It was like a normal day to everyone else. What a moron I am. So I go on with my life and my job. I am sure tomorrow something else will make me crazy. My various and sundry thoughts about the NHL (Go Sharks) and related sticks and a puck action. Tuesday, April 26, 2011. 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Lots of interesting stuff in the playoffs thus far. Detroit def. Phoenix 4-0 - Goodness gracious, the Wings looked solid. San Jose def. Los Angeles 4-2 - As a Sharks fan, I'm of course glad they won, but didn't see much to inspire confidence going into the later rounds. Very interesting piece Sharks-Kings piece on shooting at a goalie's pads. Links to this post.

A Hockey Life

Tuesday, 20 September 2011. Another week, another couple of losses, but, vast improvements! This weekend we had a double home opener facing the two Raiders of the ENL South, the Romford Raiders on Saturday and the Wightlink Raiders on Sunday. So as you've probably gathered, Romford ran out worthy winners. It wasn't all doom and gloom though as we did show more flashes of good play and vastly improved work rate and fitness levels. Another positive was that we finally figured out that we've playing superst...

A Hockey Mom Reviews. ME and PR FRIENDLY. Wednesday, March 27, 2013. LUGZ FOR THE BOYS OF HOCKEY. My boys are in hockey clothing, morning, noon and night! I want them to look cleaned up and pulled together no matter where we are headed and there are generally objections that my version of cleaned up is not 'cool'! My boys have not been too happy with me requesting basic change ups of their favorite sports sandals to shoes, until LUGZ set the boys up with really great shoes! The boys love their LUGZ.
