EG Yorkshire Branch @ Leeds: September 2012
http://embroiderersguildleeds.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
EG Yorkshire Branch @ Leeds. Sunday, 30 September 2012. Welcome back to the new term, and hope everyone had a happy holiday. During the summer Freda made progress with her daffodils and has branched into split stitch for the flower head. Jenny has also been working, on a pincushion to give to a friend. She used a synthetic ribbon for the flower head, rather than silk, so that the item can be washed. A new bag to carry samples to the Guild meeting. EG Yorkshire Branch @ Leeds. EG Yorkshire Branch @ Leeds. Sunday, 30 June 2013. Branch Meeting June 2013. Yesterday's morning session was how to make Dorset buttons. The three buttons above illustrate the speed with which one can be completed. A) by using the right thickness of thread. B) arriving for the start of the session! Hilary also demonstrated how to cover a button with weaving, hope people will try these at home and bring the results to the next meeting. We all really enjoyed Sarah's talk which was enhanced by the series of...

EG Yorkshire Branch @ Leeds. Sunday, 2 February 2014. Happy New Year one and all. January's morning stitch group had a go at applique chickens. The results are below. Hilary's work in progress. Beverley's chicken and the book of poultry she brought with her. Sorry, I should have taken a photograph of the cockerel by himself. And finally Sally's hen with attitude. The afternoon talk was given by Alice Fox. So, apologies again for the lateness of blog entries but we're now up to date. December - no meeting.

EG Yorkshire Branch @ Leeds. Sunday, 29 March 2015. Apologies for the lack of pictures. The afternoon talk was given by Helen Farrar, Curator of Textiles at Bradford College Textile Archive. She shared with us a snapshot in time, 1900, and brought with her some of the students workbooks from this period. Again no photographs but there is a website. Yesterday saw the end of round one of the Travelling Book. Challenge. Again no photographs but I can at least add photographs of mine returned. November 29th ...

EG Yorkshire Branch @ Leeds: August 2013

EG Yorkshire Branch @ Leeds. Sunday, 11 August 2013. Does anyone know of any other examples? As mentioned on last month's post Charlotte had asked if anyone would be willing to make pillowcase dresses for the underprivileged in Africa, I think that would be a yes then. Some were slower than others ( too much talking again? But brought in samples of various stitches used to anchor shisha mirrors in the past. Don't forget by double-clicking on one of the images you can create a slideshow of the photographs.

EG Yorkshire Branch @ Leeds. Sunday, 23 February 2014. Back by popular demand, Sally with her rotary cutters. I've always felt that blogs should be more pictures, less writing, but honestly (and apologies to Sally) how exciting can we make pictures of rotary cutters? No, not 16 tiny patches but rows of colour cut up and joined by machine. Is the curved handle (better grip for the more arthritic) taking a bite out of the pinking blade handle? The afternoon talk was given by Sue Stone. Beverley's chicken a...

EG Yorkshire Branch @ Leeds. Sunday, 26 January 2014. Moving on swiftly, or I'll never catch up,. A busy month. Above are photographs of the tie back competition from the Regional AGM at Scarcroft. Last year each branch were given some tie backs and asked to make something out of them. The results were many and varied and Hilary's box, above in the second picture down, won the individual prize. EG Yorkshire Branch @ Leeds. I see from the programme (which I have to refer to working so far behind the meeti...
