Saturday, July 7, 2012. AM in Aviation Communication. HF stands for High Frequency(3MHz to 30MHz). VHF stands for Very High Frequency (30MHz to 300MHz). UHF stands for Ultra High Frequency (300MHz to 3GHz). AM stands for Amplitude Modulation. FM stands for Frequency Modulation. Why not use FM for high fidelity audio? Pilots and Air Traffic Controllers and Communicators need not the luxury of high fidelity communication, clear communication is more important than fidelity. AM in Aviation Communication.
