Nick on the Camino. Nick on the Camino. Asymp; Leave a comment. Was more rain…but heck what can one expect on the west coast of Galicia? Last stop before returning to Santiago is a little fishing port called Muxia. It is famous for one church and the photo shows why. The owner then serenaded the customers with folk songs playing an accordion. Judging by the reaction of some of the customers, these were quite funny songs – or filthy ones. This won’t be my last Camino. Nick, a pilgrim. End of the World.

Still feet, ankles and legs will heal and, as per yesterday’s post, will become a distant memory by Friday and be completely forgotten by Sunday when I’ll be planning my Camino Portuguese for next spring. What I will remember of today is far more fun. Like lunching after mass on fresh paella and Galician beer. Tastes so much better when you know you aren’t going to have to carry a rucksack after the meal. Nick, a pilgrim. Larr; Previous post.

Nick on the Camino. Nick on the Camino. Well, only the last half of it really. The true Portugues runs from Lisbon to Santiago but lightweights like me start at Porto. Nick on the Camino. Nick on the Camino. Ponte de Lima to Rubaies. Asymp; Leave a comment. Penultimate day in Portugal – tomorrow, at the end of the day, I cross the border to Galicia. So today was a short hop of just some 12 miles. Or so I thought. Ponte at Ponte de Lima. The walk was fairly halt at first but soon changed into an uphill climb. Very beautiful with waterfalls as per the below. At the top, at last. Edited with BlogPad Pro. Larr; Previous post. Next post →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. You ar...

Nick on the Camino. Nick on the Camino. Asymp; Leave a comment. Porto is a cute city. I’ve only been to Portugal once before – a long weekend in Lisbon – and i’d forgotten just how into tiles these guys are. Walls completely tiled – whole houses covered in tiles – and here below a medieval cloister which someone thought would look better with a few tiles. Still easy to keep clean. It cleared up a bit after lunch and I walked around the ancient centre of Porto. Lots of great things to see; one of the ...

Nick on the Camino. Nick on the Camino. Porto to Villa do Conde. Asymp; Leave a comment. I started by taking the metro out to the starting point at Matsinhos. Funny to think that that was going to be the last bit of powered transport for the next fortnight. From now on, the only thing that will take me from A to B will be my feet. The route isn’t particularly well way-marked but you’d have to be a moron to get lost -just walk North and keep the waves to your left. Bit tricky to get wrong. Next post →.

Nick on the Camino. Nick on the Camino. Lost in Spain…. Asymp; Leave a comment. Apologies for the absence of posts. It is however rather difficult to post without a) a mobile signal b) wifi or c) reliable carrier pigeons. Occasionally however one comes across some interesting human structures – like this mirador that gives a view over a dam on the river Salime – Nice idea, shame about the rusted supports and the crumbling concrete….
