Art Rolls On: March 2015
http://janetvanfleet.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 7, 2015. I've been cleaning out my studio recently, and shifting things around, especially on the walls. I've had a 1999 triptych based on the creation story in Genesis. That's been on the back wall of the studio for many years, and I think it's time to take it down and try to find a new home for it. Of note about this piece: there are two different stories in Genesis. Here are some detail shots of the piece. Monday, March 2, 2015. OK, I'm pretty happy with this piece:.

http://janetvanfleet.blogspot.com/2015/05/closet-finished.html
Friday, May 22, 2015. Here's a look at The Closet. On exhibit now at The Front. In Montpelier. I decided the figure needed something inside - long silk underwear. Is how I think of it (though it's not actually silk, it does have that feel). Take it away for $950 (it will be great for the new gallery to have a sale! I love these curio cabinets. Art Rolls On: February 2015
http://janetvanfleet.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 28, 2015. Sometimes it takes a long time to get a piece I am satisfied with. I think this is particularly the case when I'm working on something that has to fit into a theme, or someone else's plan/exhibit/concept. A case in point is an exhibit that I was invited to produce a piece for that will be part of a storytelling event in a space behind Gallery Six in Montpelier on March 21. The theme is the 1001 Nights. But not in my possession. Friday, February 20, 2015. Five by Five Grid.

Art Rolls On: Out There
http://janetvanfleet.blogspot.com/2015/06/out-there.html
Thursday, June 4, 2015. Thanks to Anne Sarcka for letting me use a spare wall in her studio this afternoon to put together a hanging template for my installation Out There. Which uses five pieces built on top of photographs from the Hubble Space Telescope and ten small oil-on-board pieces representing asteroids (or rocks). It will be going to the Chandler Gallery in Randolph for their next show, The Creative Cosmos. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Links to Janet-related Things. Studio Place Arts (SPA).

Art Rolls On: The Closet
http://janetvanfleet.blogspot.com/2015/04/the-closet.html
Monday, April 13, 2015. Eleanor Ott gave me a fabulous cabinet, and I very quickly knew what I wanted to do with it. The Closet. I appropriated the button garment of the man in this piece. And hung it inside the cabinet, surrounded by cabinet cards of young men. It is very beautiful. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Links to Janet-related Things. You can have fun on the Telephone website. Or start from my page. This project is an awesome example of a great, selfless idea, and people who made it happen because they wanted to do something wonderful. That's what art is. Tuesday, April 21, 2015. Gone Fishing at SPA. I've got two pieces in the Gone Fishing. At the end o...
