Martes, 4 de octubre de 2011. From September 28, 2011 to October 5, 2011, the Navatri festival. During this festival it is a custom, in Tamil nadu, to display a "Kolu". Kolu is adorned with dolls – predominantly with that of the gods and goddesses depicting mythology. Dr Ramani invited all of us and Professor Alagar to his house so that we could see first hand 'Kolu' and the festivities for these days. Kolu at Dr. Ramani's house. Kolu at Dr Ramani's house. Lisa goes to India. CSC assignment … and some holidays. From September 23rd to October 21st I’ll be working in Coimbatore, India. I was lucky enough to be selected for IBM’s Corporate Services Corps. During those 4 weeks me and two other IBM colleagues will be working together with Siruthuli, a Coimbatore based NGO in order to get a grip on the water hyacinth growth in the Valankulam tank. Amazing how quick 4 weeks can pass and how good a time I had with my IBM colleagues from all over the world, the CDS crew and of course everyone at Siruthuli. The last few days in Coimbatore were packed with getting our work done for Siruthuli, a wonderful evening at the Sankara eye hospital and our good bye dinner at the Afghan grill.

The past 2.5 weeks I’ve spent mostly at the Siruthuli office, learning as much as possible about the Valankulam tank and its surroundings as well as pollution and water hyacinth control.
