Sunday, June 16, 2013. The Importance of Personal Work. Now that the semester is over and I'm home for the summer, I've had a lot of free time to get back to photographing for myself. It's funny really, you would think that if I'm going to school for photography I would be photographing all the time. While this is true in some respects, photographing for a college course is always going to be different from when I photograph outside of class. If I can't make photographs for myself then there's no way I c...

Friday, October 18, 2013. Making a Series of Images. Lately it's been difficult for me to create an image and still enjoy looking at it a few days later. What's been happening now that I've been at school is I've been taking pictures but they never get edited and finished. I am still working on new images and I think I've come up with a solution to this "new work" problem. Posted by Alex Hochstrasser. Go to a Museum. Making a Series of Images. July 2012 | AlexHawkPhotography

http://alexhawkphotography.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Saturday, July 28, 2012. Of course, these images do cost money or "credits" that you can purchase in some cases. The trade off is however, that you will be able to use thousands more stock images than a free website can offer as long as you are willing to pay for them. Anyway, this is just something that popped into my head and I thought I would write it down here. It's a simple concept, all I really want to communicate is nothing more than a basic input/output system. This is not to say that I haven't s...

Thursday, May 30, 2013. You Don't Know Anything about Photography: An Attitude Adjustment for Non-Photographers. I have found in recent months and recent work that most people who don't spend a ton of time with photography have a very skewed perception of what photography is. As a photographer, it is your job to inform those around you, or the people you are working with, of different applicable concepts and boundaries within photography. Whether a still image is a video. Thinking a panorama is a video.

April 2013 | AlexHawkPhotography

Saturday, April 27, 2013. New Looks on the Blog. You may notice that I have changed a few things around on the blog. This is almost always a personal measure as opposed to functionality. While the old template was functional, and it is backed up on my hard drive if I ever wish to switch back, it wasn't something that I felt right about. I liked the look of the black and the grey but there was something between that and the overall design that I found unappealing. Posted by Alex Hochstrasser.

Thursday, November 6, 2014. This is the Arnold Family! Brock is my cousin, so we basically go waaaaaay back. Our mom's are twin sisters, can't ya tell? Well, maybe not in the looks department (I wasn't blessed with as much height as he was), but always goofing off and being full of b.s? Yeah, that's where we are a lot alike! Well, what do ya know? He met her shortly after that, and I dare say got the catch of his life! I just love these two! And their darling little boys! I just love these people! I had ...

An Artist's Blog from an Artist's Mind. July 26, 2015. As an artist I get a lot of enjoyment out of watching, listening and analyzing media from outside of the world of photography. But there’s so much “stuff” to consume now in the digital age that it’s amazing anything even sticks with us. Somehow we manage to find the movies and the music we love even though we are surrounded by advertisements for everything all the time. On an even playing field, how do you decide what song you like more? You know you...
