You know, in an office environment, it's pretty standard for people to ignore what's happening on the other side of the cube wall. You have to, otherwise you never get anything done. That said, nothing attracts more attention than whispering! When you whisper, people want to know what you're saying. Wednesday, December 20, 2006. To make everything perfectly clear, I'm not really a party/gathering person. Crowds of people I don't really know tend to make me clam up, and stand off by myself. The one exception to this is gaming. When I'm gaming, I'm not really me, so it doesn't matter how I act, what I do, or what I say. What the hell is that? Afterwards, I explained to my boss my dislike of crowds, and she seemed to understand, which helps greatly. Maybe I won't have to do this again.

Tuesday, January 30, 2007. So, back in October I had my first performance/expectations review in my new job at UCSC. When it got around to the nebulous "do you have any concerns? Phase, I only really had one. I had been told I was going to be brought up to speed on one of the two systems that the office supported, and hadn't yet. The response: "We've got 3 experts in house on this system. Just keep on with what you do, and we'll take care of that". Now we're trying to hire another person. Good! SPISPWBW ...

She who so shall, so shall she who. Monday, January 26, 2009. Easter Island aka Rapa Nui. We're back from our winter vacation in Chile (and also Buenos Aires). We spent a couple days in Santiago and then flew to Easter Island. We visited family in Buenos Aires and then went to Patagonia to hike in the beautiful national park called Torres del Paine. She who so shall, so shall she who. Friday, August 29, 2008. Back on the summer solstice we decided to hike up to the Hollywood sign. It happened to be a very HOT day but it turned out okay because we started fairly early and the hike wasn't that difficult. The view from up there is wonderful because you can see both the ocean and the valley. I took pictures all along the way. I think my best one is the accidental picture above.
