Mzungu Eriki on a bike: Reference only post.
http://mzungueriki.blogspot.com/2007/01/reference-only-post.html
Mzungu Eriki on a bike. This is more of a numbers post for future reference. Last time I did the Lolkisale loop I didn't write the numbers down. We left at 5:15 and returned at 1400. We had to redo Paulo's triangle bag and that took maybe 20 minutes. We had two long stops, 30 and 20 minutes. I accidently pushed the reset button on the cyclometer but I am pretty sure it is around 80km out the new road and 60km back by the old route. I carried some sugar but we didnt get any tea at any bomas. I grew up (?

Mzungu Eriki on a bike: South Masai steppe tour
http://mzungueriki.blogspot.com/2011/02/south-masai-steppe-tour.html
Mzungu Eriki on a bike. South Masai steppe tour. I asked Arusha Bikers mailing list about joining me for a short tour. In the end no one could go, so I went alone. Alone is good too. I had a plan of "finding" this mountain pictured above, called Landanai. It is there on the map, and it is pretty big and all, but maps are pretty sketchy on location of roads , vague, outdated, roads change, etc, so I figured it was still an adventure "finding" it from the north. I had an auspicious start through town. I was...

Mzungu Eriki on a bike: Iraqwi Tour
http://mzungueriki.blogspot.com/2009/08/iraqw-tour.html
Mzungu Eriki on a bike. I have been wanting to tour the Mbulu Highlands for a year. Somehow the Iraqw. Tribe and area are called (wa)Mbulu, but they call themselves Iraqwi. And as they gave us such a good time we will call it Iraqwi highlands tour. My reasons for wanting to tour this area were:. It is on top of the rift and above 1500m and more temperate. They do live down the rift into the area around Babati and Magugu well under 1000m. I wanted to do a tour around people and services. We stopped once a...

http://mzungueriki.blogspot.com/2015/03/rain-not-drizzle-but-pouring-rain.html
Mzungu Eriki on a bike. Rain not a drizzle but pouring rain. Which means your chances of getting caught in the twenty downpours per year are slim. Today I should of left for work at 7 am and ridden dry. I messed around and as I was thinking of going it poured. I will post in the building blog about my thoughts while looking at my rainwater management system, as I spent 15 minutes seeing what was happening in my compound, then it let up to just light rain so I took off. I can tell people think :. There wa...

http://mzungueriki.blogspot.com/2006/11/beginnings.html
Mzungu Eriki on a bike. Well I might as well have a blog, everyone else does. I was encouraged by reading others' blogs, like Kent Peterson, duncan Drury, and David Houghton. As well I was encouraged by finding my old journals from college and periodically during my life. So this is more for me than for others. I would like to come back and read this in years to come. How did I do? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I grew up (? View my complete profile. I rode the most mellow ride and I dont feel guilty.

Mzungu Eriki on a bike: April 2015
http://mzungueriki.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Mzungu Eriki on a bike. What do you think about while driving to work? Yesterday daughter Nashesha informs me that I have to drive her and her artwork to school, as it won't fit on the bicycle. So should i drive back home and then ride bike or just drive to work. I drive to work. It turns out of be about 30 minutes driving, 20 of it alone. It struck me how it is kind of non productive. Stop and go, paying attention to the chaotic jam into town. How do you put up with this day in and day out? This cross I...
