A hasty post after word reach the masses this afternoon about a golden plover in high breeding plumage seen at Cape St. Mary's, Avalon Peninsula, Newfoundland on 16 July 2015 by a tour group lead by David Trently. This month I’ve been digging into the new book Rare Birds of North America. From Cap Torment we headed on up the north shore of the mighty river as far as the Saguenay at Tadoussac. We saw a fair number of Blue-winged Teals as well as Golden-eyes and Cormorants in the river in addition to Canada Geese and Mallards.
