Just another WordPress.com weblog. Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don’t. Told you →. September 22, 2009. Last week Chuck and I were on vacation in Ireland with his family. This time I really did run on vacation – probably because I wasn’t the only one who had to do it! I got in three (somewhat hilly) one hour jogs at a moderate pace. I have no clue how far I ran, but I don’t think that matters so much. It was really beautiful terrain and. Made running a bit more enjoyable. Told you →. Enter...

A runner is a runner | coach on the move

Coach on the move. A runner is a runner. June 10, 2010 at 2:23 pm. In the June issue of Runner’s World, there’s a Pearl Izumi ad that made me sad, at first, and then really angry. The paragraph on the next page begins, The marathon used to be an elite athletic contest. These days, it’s an all day affair where some people mosey across the finish line seven hours after they started. One of the things I love about running (or what PI might call. Where does this negativity com from? So please join us at the ...

Just another WordPress.com weblog. Notes from a plodder. Now that’s a fun run →. October 27, 2009. The Marathon is only 4 days, 20 hours and 32 minutes away. Oh, the time has gone by so fast. I can’t believe we’re here. This week we’re just resting and drinking lots of water and eating LOTS of pasta something new every night! I’m really scared. Everyone is being so nice and telling me that it’ll be fun, just one big party. But 26 miles is an insane distance! Can I handle it? Notes from a plodder. You are...

Just another WordPress.com weblog. In the dark →. That was good, but it hurt. September 29, 2009. We woke up Sunday morning at 5:54 to the sound of pouring rain. This was the dreaded day the 18 mile Marathon tune up in Central Park. As if three laps of the loop wasn’t torture enough, we now had to do it in miserable, freezing rain. We did not take any walk breaks at all for the first 13 miles. I did a whole half marathon without stopping. I’m pretty happy. And then.the Wall! Chuck took me inside and head...

Just another WordPress.com weblog. T-minus… →. Notes from a plodder. October 23, 2009. Early this morning I received an email alerting me to this article. In today’s New York Times. Training for a marathon is hard work, no matter who you are. It’s time consuming, it’s exhausting, it’s depleting. But the hardest part is convincing yourself that you can do it. Believing that you have the strength to get through 26.2 miles in the name of something bigger. I literally started from zero. On day one. That̵...

https://racingtoremember.wordpress.com/2009/10/13/what-if
Just another WordPress.com weblog. October 13, 2009. I decided that I had to do the 20-miler. I felt that I didn’t deserve to taper if I didn’t. But Saturday and Sunday were pretty busy this weekend so I decided to do it Monday morning (since I had Monday off for Columbus Day). When Monday morning finally rolled around, I wasn’t feeling it. But I went anyway, because I had promised myself. The following is a list of reasons why it totally sucked:. 6 I didn’t finish. I HATE NOT FINISHING. So I stopped in ...

Just another WordPress.com weblog. That was good, but it hurt. October 8, 2009. Then I thought I’d run in the morning, which I’ve only done once before. Guess what? It’s dark in the morning too! That was almost creepier than running in the dark at night. (This is actually good news though because it means I don’t have to wake up at 5 am to run.). This entry was posted in Running.
